Ferryride from Levis to Quebec City

After we rested for a few hours, we drove down to the ferry landing so we could have dinner in Vieux Quebec (old Quebec)...

The Levis side has a spectacular view of Quebec and the ferry ride, we were told, would be very short...

This was a parkng meter machine that wasn't working. We, along with a few other folks followed instructions and even called the help number, but to no avail. We were just worried that we'd get our cars ticketed for "not paying".

We warily left after checking other cars' dashboards and found that they too, didn't have the parking permit, so we figured it would be okay!

I liked this ad for "barbacoa" (bbq sandwich). I'm sure it's different from the barbacoa that I know!

The tickets were relatively inexpensive. The ferries run every thirty minutes.

I don't like the one and two dollar coins here (the $1 coin is called a "Loonie", named after a bird; the $2 coin is called a "Toonie"). I like bills better. Lighter in my pocket.

Don't you just love Bert's Marvel shirt?

Only $7 at Wal-Mart, heh heh.

As mentioned in previous posts for this particular day, it was very very warm. Although it was humid and in the 90's in the daytime, by early evening (in which there was still light), it felt comfortable but a bit balmy. We stayed on the top deck and enjoyed the views...

It was funny while crossing over because I didn't realize how short it would be. One minute, I was chatting with Bert and C and the next thing I knew, THIS (Le Chateau Frontenac, a Fairmount hotel no less) was behind us!!!! Doesn't it look awesome? This beautiful building can be seen for miles and is a prominent part of the Quebec skyline.

Got $300 to spend a night there? That would probably only get you a cheapo room too! Imagine the penthouse view (and price)!

Designated in 1980 by the National Historic Site of Canada, the building, prior to being a Fairmont hotel, also served as the residence for the British colonial  governors of Lower Canada and Quebec. The hotel opened in 1893 and was named after Louis de Buade, Count of Frontenac, who was the governor of the colony of New France from 1672 to 1682.

So yeah, I felt like a doofus not realizing that the ferry trip would be so short. We would soon be off for dinner at a place recommended by NM...
