Horny green desserts...

Now that I have your attention...

(Aw, shite, my Hulk plate is upside down!)

These macarons were annihilated rather quickly by me Bert and I...

After lunch with Supe, we all popped into Nijiya so TC could buy a Japanese melon popsicle (which was green and very artificial tasting). Supe had to get back to work so we ended up going to, yes...Big Joy Bakery. Due to my hatred of parking in strip mall lots on Convoy, I was determined to park on the street, lucked out and found a space I could easily get into (I also hate parallel parking with a passion).

I wished we could have stayed for more coffee (their mocha is so damn good here), but this was just a quick in-n-out (heh) visit.

What's this? When did they start putting individual plastic sleeves on their macarons? I think it's kind of wasteful sticking all those beautiful macarons in plastic when it's just going to be unwrapped in a matter of seconds and devoured...

I bought nine different macarons and a slice of green tea custard cake.

"In no particular order..." (TC hates the way Steve Jones says that on X Factor): Raspberry, Hazelnut, Pistachio, Green Tea, Strawberry, Chocolate, Cappucino. Not seen (because it was too messy looking and therefore was eaten) was the Sea Salt Caramel. I wish I could just conjure these up with my non-existent mind powers. I could easily get addicted to macarons with disastrous results.

Later that evening...

Bert and I shared the slice of green tea custard cake. It wasn't something he'd normally try but we'd tried their mocha and chocolate cakes already. He's not really into fruit either. I thought we'd try this...

Whenever I see layer cakes, I think about what a pain it must be to slice it so perfectly. Then there's frosting each layer with that delectable filling. OMG. Well, I guess I think that way because I'm a lazy baker and not willing to go through all that work.  I think layer cakes are so pretty though. Anyways, we both enjoyed the green tea cake but in the future, I will probably stick to the flavors that I know Bert would like.

*Hulk plate customized by yours truly with a green votive holder as the base (as seen in a previous post featuring CAB's iced Meyer lemon cookies)

I went back to work today and all I can think of is...when is the next break!!!! Presidents' Day can't come soon enough!!!

Ooooooo, macarons!

Wait, don't you get Martin Luther King's day off? That's next Monday.

I just tried every single one of their macarons like a week ago! Still gotta write my post though. Love the color on them, as always.

I just got back from Big Joy Bakery. The macarons were baked on Sunday so they were selling them for $1 each. I was originally planned on getting 2 each of pistachio, sea salt caramel, and red velvet. I ended up also getting 2 each of chocolate, hazelnut, cappuccino, and green teal. I would have gotten more flavors but that's all they had. Still, I'm a happy girl!

IHC-
ooh they had the red velvet! nice! i should ask them about their day old's next time. CAB got some and they were cheap. i don't mind the macarons being a day old! 2 or 3 days old, yes, but 1 day old, omfg, i'm there!

during halloween, they had black ones but they were raspberry flavor. they also had blueberry with an orange filling. cool color combos.

And the trick to those 1-2 day old ones is to put them in a airtight container, stick them in the fridge for a day and the inside will soften up a bit. Yeah baby!!!

Oh yeah, I didn't like the green tea one... but I powered through and ate it cause I bought it. By the time I got home I couldn't remember which was which so I was expecting pistachio when I bit into it. Sad face!
