Bahn Thai

This was my last week of vacation until I have to go back to work next week. TC dutifully accompanied me on errands that took us to Mission Hills and recently to  University Heights...

in our search for authentic British products to use for an upcoming "tea" party that is being planned by TORC, myself, and KD...

After obtaining a few items for the tea at Rosie Lee's, we noticed a new'ish Thai place across the street.

They opened about six months ago. I guess I never noticed them the last time we were in the area. It's pretty small inside. Just two or three tables plus several outside.

The menu had your standard items (rice, noodles, curries, choose your protein, etc).

I ordered the Chicken Satay with peanut sauce and a Thai iced tea. It was such a hot day...

I also ordered a side of steamed vegetables (carrots, broccoli, bean sprouts, and cabbage) to go with the chicken. For TC, she had the Pad Thai with beef.

The noodle portion was pretty large. We both liked the sauce on the noodles. You could taste the tamarind in there...We ended up taking half of our food home since we couldn't finish it and also so Bert could try it.

The view from our window - Rosie Lee's where TC and I made a quick stop before having our lunch. We got clotted cream and lemon curd for an upcoming tea event.

For Bert, we ordered a dish to go - Drunken Noodles with shrimp (mild spice level). One thing, when they serve you here, you get paper plates and plastic utensils. The black takeout boxes with clear lids are much nicer! They're rectangular plastic containers that are reusable and microwavable;  perfect for taking your lunch to work. I even ate the leftovers cold. There were about half a dozen large shrimp in here. I love the wide noodles and the sauce. Bert and TC enjoyed this as well.

Here's the official website for Bahn Thai.

Here are the yelp reviews.

Nice to know there's a Thai option in this part of town. They seemed to be quite popular with folks who were doing take out. Service was efficient and friendly. Lots of people out with their dogs that day. We parked two blocks away (I wanted free, non-metered parking) and it gave TC and I a chance to get some exercise!
