We originally wanted to eat at Just Fabulous in Kensington, but unbeknown to us, they had closed for good (looked it up on their website when I got home). We called 411 and the only number they gave us was on Alvarado Road. So we drove by - it looked closed so we ended up going to Terra in Hillcrest.

Terra
[Update - This location closed and relocated to El Cajon Blvd in La Mesa as of 2011]
We originally wanted to eat at Just Fabulous in Kensington, but unbeknown to us, they had closed for good (looked it up on their website when I got home). We called 411 and the only number they gave us was on Alvarado Road. So we drove by - it looked closed so we ended up going to Terra in Hillcrest.
The occasion? Our 12th wedding anniversary. I ordered a green salad with candied pecans and dressing on the side. This was a huge salad.
TC got the mini sliders we liked so much on our last visit there. It's Kobe beef with caramelized shallots and cambazola (?) cheese. They served it with some bland bowtie pasta and a piece of pineapple.
Bert got eggs benedict on top of crab cakes which were on top of muffins. This was served with hash browns and fresh fruit also.
The other side of the plate:
My entree - I can't remember the name of it, but it had crab claw meat (kinda puny!) with what looked like prosciutto, tomato and lettuce. There was also an aioli spread (with herbs - sorry, can't remember as I'm posting this on 7/17 finally). This too was also served with that awful bowtie pasta. I tried only one piece. It had too much tomato sauce yet was bland. I ended up eating the sandwich filling but not the bread.

Both places have good eats, but pricey though for food and desert.
i agree.
also, not a lot of 'ethnic' people there! very white. old and crusty too.
Well, I don't think you'll find too many ethnic people eating at that "neck-of-the-woods", let along eating their style of food.
