Thank You!

Thanks Chrissy from Life on Manitoulin . She nominated me among her top 5 for the Blogger Reflection Award! Our very own Lotus is also in the Top 5. Reflect on five bloggers and write a least a paragraph about each one. They all read my blog anyways, so they'll see their nomination here! Props to you guys and gals!:

Here's my top 5:

Lotus - She is a very dear friend who I consider multitalented, a Renaissance woman, if you will. An awesome chef (not cook, but chef!), Lotus is someone who I admire not only for her intelligence and sense of humor, but her clear thinking skills (unlike my own!), and the great pride and care in what she makes and serves. I consider her meals memorable events in their own right. She is fun to be with and my daughter adores her too! She is my "go to gal" whenever I have cooking questions!

Hot Fudge - Another very good friend is the always knowledgable not only about pop culture, but places to shop and dine. I value her opinion and enjoy her company when I do see her and Ronin during our get togethers. Like Lotus, HF is a very intelligent as well as generous person. I admire her strong will and the fact that she has traveled to so many places around the world (something Bert and I would like to do someday). She has a lot of funny stories to tell and I really enjoyed being her lunch pal last summer. I never would have tried Lebanese or Ethiopian food if it wasn't for her!

Life on Manitoulin - Chrissy is someone who I'd like to meet one day, perhaps next year even. She started her blog roughly the same time I started blogging (encouraged by Lotus, Superman and the regulars). Last year, I emailed her as a result of a post Lotus did about "engagement" stories and Chrissy and I became blog friends through our similar interests and shared culture. She is super smart, possesses a great sense of humor, is well read, compassionate, and lives quite an interesting life on Manitoulin Island as a farmer's wife and ESL teacher. She is such a wonderfully positive person with a kind heart and spirit to match.

Superman - Although he does not post frequently, I enjoy reading his blog and the comments that inevitably follow. Topics of interest and controversy include comics and geekdom, Howard Stern and did I mention comics? He is also a talented artist. Who knew that this guy I once knew in 8th grade art class would have his vibrant art work painted on the walls and ceiling of St. Cecilia's Playhouse or be featured in Art Walk in Little Italy or that his work would grace AART productions? If I needed a "Lifeline" for Comics, Music or Pop Culture, Superman would be it! Plus, Superman is one of the few people (basides my husband) who gets my references and doesn't think I'm too strange! "Fk it, let him sing his lines! Lemonaaaaaade...that cool refreshing drink!"

and lastly, a tie between my favorite two food bloggers, MMM-Yoso and Captain Jack (CJ). I've been reading MMM-Yoso for a little over a year now and CJ for about half a year, and it never ceased to amaze me how many places they have tried! Unfathomable! I consider MMM-Yoso my inspiration for starting to blog about food. Although my blog is not a 'food blog' since I blog about other things, I started to inlude food last summer. I always took photos of food waaaaay before food blogging became popular (much to the chagrin of my companions) so this became an excuse to write about it as well.

One little google search about Ben's 1615 ( a Filipino fusion place in National City) led me to MMM-Yoso's blog and I was addicted ever since. My husband and I have tried many places based on his detailed descriptions and photographs of the places he's dined. As a result, I've been more open minded in going to various places and trying new dishes. The other tie-winner,CJ, is someone who I also admire for his uber detailed descriptions of his restaurant and little eatery excursions. Puts my simple descriptions to shame. He seems like a very cool guy - plus he has a purple Harley and likes guitar based rock music like me (the rock music that is, I don't have a purple Harley!). I enjoy reading both of their blogs very much and look forward to new posts so I can try those places in the near future. Thanks MMM-Yoso and CJ!

So there's my five (errrr 6).

Gosh, Canine, I'm flattered! A bit surprised though, cause I don't think my blog is anything intriguing; but thanks!
