Hue Cafe or Cafe Hue?

And now we resume our lunch coupon adventures once again...After our freakishly huge Japanese smorgasbord of takeout lunch from Nijiya, we went a few doors down to this place...

Now the coupon says Hue Cafe...

But the sign on the building says Cafe Hue. Well they can call themselves whatever they want. We just wanted some dessert!

They had several choices...

Now this kind of bugged me that they called the 'waffle' the Belgium Waffle. To clarify, Belgium is the name of the country and food or people from Belgium are called 'Belgian'. Their labeling wasn't consistent: Italian Ice Cream and Japanese Crepe were on those posters, which was correct and then you get to the waffle. It's like saying, China Dumpling, Philippines Lumpia, Mexico taco or something. Well, Cafe Hue folks, it's BELGIAN, not Belgium! Aaaaaah! (runs screaming)

TC wanted gelato with her waffle. Their waffles by the way were described as "Liege" waffles which is a reference to Liege, a city in eastern Belgium. The Liege waffle is richer, sweeter, more denser and chewier than a regular waffle. Chunks of pearl sugar are caramelized on the surface of the waffle when they are baked in the waffle pan.

We sat at one of the bar height tables...

Dessert was on D so we each got  Belgium BELGIAN  Waffles. This was TC's Liege waffle with melon gelato. I thought that was a wierd combination, but my daughter likes the fruity flavors.

D got a tall cup of soy milk and a plain Liege waffle with powdered sugar...

The waffles had a nice sugary crunch on the outside. They were heavier than, say, a regular Belgian waffle or an Eggo waffle. They were pretty sweet and I could only take a few bites before throwing up the white flag.

D and I also shared another Liege waffle with Nutella and almonds on top. This was nut overload but in a good way!  Of course, this was way too much for us three so guess who reaped the benefits yet again?

That's right - Bert. He really enjoys our leftovers, I must say!

Right outside you can kind of see the Mignon Pho place. A few doors to your left is Spicy City (haven't been there yet) and the new Koon Thai (which I would also like to try soon as well) which replaced Curry House.
