Royal T/Cafe changes up their exhibits every few months...you'll notice that the windows are now clear again. Last time they were completely painted over with funky designs.
We parked int he back again. The graffiti'd piano was now in an enclosed space with mannequins along with kitschy books, LP's and other such ephemera evoking the mid to late 60's...

So, the exhibit JUST opened and was installed the day before our visit.
In this cubicle was a piece paying tribute to Russ Meyer (director of the classic, "Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!")
More art later...here's a panda cooking vessel (forgot the official name). This looks too cute to even put food in!!!
More art work in another enclosed space that used to house the multicolored bicycle parts and accessories (now gone) that we saw in our last visit.
There was a dj spinning some cool grooves that afternoon...
These earrings were so cute (but overpriced at $18 a pair)!
The shop had these photorealistic pillows. This was the sushi one. The others were of an ice cream sandwich and a cupcake.
TC was amused by these wind up Ugly Dolls toys...
They spelled "macarons" incorrectly. Well, the spelling is correct but for a different type of cookie, not the French macaron pictured on the ring itself. Cute, but I can't see myself wearing these. In the background are Momiji /Hello Kitty keyrings.

We were seated in the back this time (near the swinging kitchen door)...
Bert and I had the fab and fruity Kyoto Sunrise tea again while TC tried the Ginger Lemonade which ended up being too "spicy" for her. She wasn't used to the strong ginger flavor. It was also quite tart!
High Tea again! The 3-tier tray was topped with a chocolate cupcake with cookies and cream frosting...The middle tiers held strawberry mousse, bread pudding, a chocolate brownie, flan, and a white chocolate covered red velvet petit four along with a mixture of fresh berries.
The bottom tier held savory canapes - same as last time, which was a tuna tataki tartare, a mini brioche bun with curried turkey salad, smoked salmon, and a grilled beef panini.
Wanting something light, Bert opted for the Tuna Tataki Salad with mixed Asian greens, thinly sliced cucumbers, tomato slices (no daikon as promised in the menu?) and a spicy peanut sauce for the dressing. He really liked the tuna (I'm not a fan of the total rawness of it but it was still pretty good) and the avocado!
TC wanted only a few things - the side of sweet potato fries (mmmm) and a bowl of fresh fruit. She had some of the savory canapes as well.
I also got a salad - Grilled Salmon with a lemongrass caper aoili; the greens were julienned romaine with tomatoes, topped with crunchy wonton strips and yuzu/chive dressing. Loved this. I think I will start julienning my lettuce. TC seemed to enjoy eating salad this way instead of the regular way I cute Romaine.
I don't know what seasoning they put on this grilled salmon, but it was so good! The portion was a little more than what I'm used to eating but I simply loved that salmon!
This was another installation near the front which had cyclops manneqins mixed in with 50's/60's kitsch.
In another part of the gallery, a couple of multicolored boomboxes.
There's that Murakami again! This was the side of their shop.
You can kind of see it in the background (the pink bag in the ower right corner), the Strawberry Pocky tote bag. I got a few items for future gifts (several sarcastic books and a few Momiji message dolls). We were full from our tea/lunch. We had leftover desserts and fruit so those were chucked into our cooler...
Before heading up to the LACMA, there were a few other things I wanted us to see close up before leaving...
