Getting ready for Halloween

We bought our candy late this year. Bert picked up some bags of the cheapy candy. Well, you know, the non-chocolate kind. Nerds, Laffy Taffy, SweetTarts, gum, lollipops and such.

We have a bag of the "goodstuff" too but that's for us in case we run out...

I finally changed our Pez display to the Halloween ones. Did you know the Halloween Pez characters have names? The witch with the purple hat is new this year. The green faced one is old but I'm not sure what year it is. The Jack o'Lantern is from last year. The ghost is actually named "Naughty Neil". The black cat is Sanrio's Chococat which is not really a Halloween themed Pez but TC wanted it on the display since he's a black cat.

Then you have "Slimy Sid" (wtf, right?), a glow in the dark Toti skeleton (who makes up these names?), along with the Dinosaur from "Toy Story" (who TC insisted be on the shelf as well even though he's not a Halloween character), and the Vampire Bat from last year.

The last few include the Black Cat (2006), "Happy Henry" (he's cuter than "Naughty Neil"), an older Jack o'Lantern, and the Vampire and Witch from last year. I likehow the cat has a collar with a jack o'lanter on it.

Bert is getting ready to carve our pumpkins today. Last night TC and Bert hollowed out three pumpkins. We also enjoyed the soft pumpkin chocolate chip cookies gifted to us yesterday by Kirbie whom I met up with for lunch at Que Huong (along with her FH, Dennis, and a friend of mine...that post is forthcoming). I normally don't like pumpkin anything, but these cookies were so light and delicious. They were full of chocolate chips and the texture was so soft. We loved it. Bert was the first to dig into the stash.

Consider this a preview of our pumpkins. TC chose the design of Boo (from "Monsters Inc." in a Monster suit) - it's the bottom row, second design on the package I'm holding. I kept it simple this year and chose a stylized design of the "True Blood - Season 1" poster. Lastly, Bert found a picture of one of his favorite Avengers, and modified it so that it could be a pumpkin stencil.

This character is called The Vision. He is an Android and is able to change his body density which allows him to phase through objects. He is able to make his body as hard as diamonds. He can also shoot lasers out of his eyeballs. I think that's the best power of all, ha ha! He also got married to The Scarlet Witch and had twin boys named Thomas and William. This whole paragraph was typed verbatim as I asked Bert what was so special about the Vision. I even got him the little Tokidoki Frenzy of this character which is currently propped up on one of our shelves in the bedroom.

Bert will be working on those later today and I'll post the end results tomorrow on Halloween!

Those templates are great! I'm going to go carve pumpkins and out of ideas...
Kirbie's cookies were crazy moist, like flat chocolate chip muffins!

Love your write-up on Bert's Vision pumpkin/Jack o'lantern!

Happy Halloween, you guys!

thanks Paul! i had a feeling you'd appreciate that!

the pumpkins are now done! they will be posted tomorrow! the Vision came out pretty good. It was originally a full body length portrait complete with flowing cape and black circle behind him but Bert had to crop the bottom half out. Or get a super long and tall pumpkin.

I love the Scarlet Witch! Love that Vision template! We watched part of Captain America tonight but will have to wait until tomorrow to finish it.

Sadly I did not carve any pumpkins this year cuz I was under the weather. The Mister was kind of bummed since he really enjoys them. Oh well.

I love Nerds, Dum Dum pops (the pineapple) and Smarties! Not a big Laffy Taffy fan since it always leaves a weird artificial aftertaste in my mouth.

hi c - i had no idea who the vision was. someone thought it was space ghost (he does look like that)!

that's cool you know about the scarlet witch!

i can't eat sticky candy unless i want to screw up my crowns - so no laffy taffy or jolly ranchers or now 'n laters for me.
