Off we go!

Tomorrow we're off to Boston to visit Thane. Then Friday we're off to visit another friend in NYC. We'll be back by mid next week. I'll be taking lots of photos and am excited to play tourist as well as eat in two great cities. One famous for clam chowder and the other for just about every cuisine imaginable. We'll be playing it by ear. If I post, the pictures will come later upon my return!

Oh CC,

I am sooo jealous, I dig beantown, and absolutely LOVE Manhattan.

Here are a couple of my faves:

beantown:

Chowder at Legal Seafood, it may be a chain, but I sure wish we had one here.

Cannoli at Mike's Pastry

Pizza at Regina's

Manhattan:

Best pizza outside of Naples, seriously, Una Pizza Napolitano

Pastrami at Katz's

Halal Cart at 53rd St. and 6th Ave across from the Midtown Hilton, 8pm to 5am nightly, different cart during day, not nearly as good. Look for the giant lines, even in the rain.

H&H Bagels

The chopped chicken liver and whitefish salad at Barney Greengrass is trancendent.

TAKE LOTS OF PHOTOGRAPHS :)

Have a blast,
CJ

hi jack
it's me canine posting under my friend's handle.

yes, we plan on going to the legal seafoods location near boston commons. i know it's touristy but hey, if their clam chowder is good enough for presidential inaugurations, then it's good enough for us!

we just ate at koreana restaurant on prospect st in cambridge, just a short walk away from our friend's place. it's great that everything is either walking distance or reachable via the T.

re: Halal cart, I was actually thinking about that because I saw it on the food channel - they were doing some bit on street food in NYC. If you have more recommendations, let me know. I'll be checking in from time to time. Thanks!

pictures will be posted once i get back.

Hey CC,

I know Manhattan much better than Boston. Here are few more:

Yona Schimmel: Great kinishs

Gray's Papaya: Hot Dogs (I like Pink's in LA better but many would argue with me).

Carnegie Deli: Touristy, but crazy huge deli sandwiches. (They will make for some amusing photos).

Jean George: LUNCH, JG is a fortune for dinner, but one of the best deals in town for lunch.

If you want to do a high dinner and did not make reservations months ago (eg two months to the day for Per Se) have dinner at the bar at Babbo. Batali's flag ship is on my short list of favorites, and you can order off the full menu at the bar with no reservations.

Half price, day of the show, theater tickets at Duffy Square along side the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. (You have to be flexible on what you will see, and be prepared to wait in line, but it is a good deal).

Sorry, typo

Jean George should read Jean Georges

Hope you are having fun!

Cheers,
CJ
