Fins

This was a rarity---going out on a Thursday night! Even more so, going out to EAT on a weekday! My day usually consists of coming home dead tired and having dinner with TC after she finishes her piano practice, daily math, homework (if any) and her daily reading. This night was different. She had her Spring Sing assembly and Open House at her school. Bert and I went to the Open House portion first, then headed to the auditorium to hear the children sing (by grade level). Luckily, we were dismissed after the 2nd graders. I would have been dying if we had to stay for all grade levels. So, we were outta there in an hour and instead of going home to eat, we used some coupons I had for Fins which were taken from the "Buy 1 Get 1 Free Magazine'" we get every week. I had nothing prepared at home, so we decided to try it out. This is the Fins in Bonita by the way. It's in a strip mall on Otay Lakes Road, right before it meets Bonita Road. This place used to be "Burrito Corona" which was only there for about six months. Before that, it was "Patrick O'Palms" for about 8 years.
That's Bert ordering our combos (buy 1 get 1 free!).
It's pretty small in here. There's also outdoor seating, but it was getting chilly. That blue thing is the salsa bar. There's four kinds and they are in bowls on ice.
For TC, I used a coupon for the Buy 1 Get 1 Free Fish Taco. So this only cost $1.99 for both. She ate only one. Their fish portions are bigger than Rubio's and it tastes better too.
I also got a side order of rice ($1.29) for her:
Bert got me the Dos Pescados Combo ($6.99 - but we had the coupon! Score!) - Two fish tacos with beans and chips.
This was Bert's combo (forgot the name of it) - but it was 1 fish taco & 1 fish burrito with beans and chips.
Close up of the shrimp burrito:
On our way out...
I can't wait to be on vacation!

Hey CC,

When I lived by UCSD I had a choice between Fins and Rubio's. I too prefer Fins. I realy like their burritos. Alas, here in PB we only have Rubio's.

Cheers,
CJ

hi jack
yeah, at sdsu, there was only rubio's across the bridge. i think it's gone now. the portions are bigger at fins and the fish & sauce tastes better too.

Rubio's suck! I agree with Jack, Fins taste better. When I first tried Fins was about 5 years ago; I would go there for lunch sometimes right after teaching my class.
