this is what a real poinsettia plant looks like fully grown...
Like my clickbait? They really were pretty flowers as seen in Paradise Hills...
But the point of this post is this...

Christmas music.
None of that Mariah Carey, Taylor Swift, and (insert other popular mainstream performers that I don't care about here).
Of course they have their place in polite society, but really, how many times can you listen to Brenda Lee's version of "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" when you can listen to a more axed up version by Firehouse?

Or "O' Come All Ye Faithful" by none other than Twisted Sister?
(for those that don't get the reference, the song follows the tune of their hit, "We're Not Gonna Take It")
And to me, Christmas music sounds so much better when it's guitar driven, as evidenced by the talents of the triumvirate themselves, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson and Steve Vai, a few talented guitarists featured on this classic album.
Here are a few of my favorites (not featured on the cd's depicted), such as Dokken's "Santa Claus is Coming to Town":
Sounds a bit more sinister in a minor key doesn't it?
The Ramones, "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight")
Plus this cute one by Japanese all girl garage band, Shonen Knife, "Space Christmas":
"He's riding on a bison sleigh..."

"Time to break out the GOOD Christmas music" December 2013
Don't get me wrong...there's nothing the matter with holiday or Christmas music, but everything sounds so nice and safe and novocaine inducing. Would I rather get a root canal or listen to Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmas Time" for the umpteenth time? Can I tell you how I REALLY feel?
Anyhow, to each their own. Just know that if you're riding in MY car during the holidays, you're not listening to Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole or blah blah blah.
p.s.
I really do like Nat King Cole though. My heart isn't that cold and black.
