Music Listography - Your Life in (Play)Lists: Premiere Post

Thanks to the lovely TORC, I received this most fk awesome book for my birthday a few weeks ago...

Can you spell P.E.R.F.E.C.T. for me?

This is exactly how I think!

This book has got to be one of the best presents ever!!! TORC, if you're reading this, thanks again!

For the debut post of my personal Music Listography picks on different topics, I shall start with this (since I thought it was pretty easy off the top of my head). So yeah, don't laugh!

LIST THE MUSIC YOUR PARENTS LISTENED TO
WHEN YOU WERE A KID

The very cool and smooth Nat King Cole:
"Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa..."

You can't go wrong with Elvis...
"It's FAT Elvis to you there mister! Thank you verruh much!"

Unfortunately, we had to endure this guy, Englebert Humperdinck (aka "Englebert Hump My Dick" as we kids rudely nicknamed him):
"The ladies love my my muttonchop sideburns..."

My mom really liked Connie Francis (yowza, check out her bouffant):
Hummina hummina!

While my dad liked Johnnny Cash:
The Man in Black was always cool

They also made us suffer to the sounds of the  Ray Conniff Singers
"Let us unleash the wordless vocal horror that is the Ray Conniff  Singers upon these innocent children who will be scarred for life!"

and Lawrence Welk too!
"And a one and a two and a..."

Pat Boone was also another singer our virgin ears were assaulted with:
"Am I white enough for you?"

My mom really loved Johnny Mathis's voice. Years later, I found out he was the one singing the duet "Without Us" (Theme song for the TV show, "Family Ties") with Deniece Williams!  He was pretty handsome when he was young! The dude was smooth!
"Hey now! How YOU doin'?"

Can you tell my mom loved the crooners? Here's another one she liked (and that we kids hated), Paul Anka:
"I have no idea why I'm so popular!"

And last but not least, my mom's ultimate fave, the very hairy, hip shakin' and  panty dropping Sex Bomb himself, Tom Jones!!!!
"Rock out with your Cock out!"

My parents aren't that old, really! But they sure listened to some old blue haired shit. The only remotely cool singer on that list was Elvis! Anyways, that's it for this first installment of random pages chosen from "Music Listography". I think I'm going to have A LOT of fun with this!

What music did your parents play when you were a kid? I WANT TO KNOW!!!!

Hey CC,
Glad you like the listography book I gave you. I enjoyed your list on your parents' faves. Yeah, I've always wondered why our parents listened to some older singers. I'd like to think my parents were more hip though. Ha ha! I mean my dad did have a Beatles record collection for a while. But they did listen more or less to the same singers on your parents' list. Ask your parents if they ever heard of Matt Munro.
