Last week, our department had our yearly planning meeting. For lunch, we headed over to the Chla Vista mall (near Broadway and H), located near Jamba Juice and Rubio's (not pictured). I haven't been here in a while so this place was new to me. I'd been to a BJ's about 8 years ago during a conference at UCLA. My co-worker took us there because he said he heard it was good. It wasn't that great in my opinion. All I remember was that we had a "pizookie", which is a "pizza"/"cookie". Basically a cookie baked in a cast iron skillet. Whoop de fkg doo.
The receptionist was so cute!!! She looked like a female version of latest tween manufactured pop idol Justin Bieber (TC's current fave, ugh!). She looked like a verrrry effiminate boy or slightly masculine cute girl. She looks like a twink in training. She had short boyish hair that was backcombed to the front, leaving a really cute, but long fringe for her bangs. Not a lot of peole could pull off that look. Of course, you can't see that in the photo. She's the one wearing the striped shirt; you can only see the back of her head.
This place was like places I normally don't go to. Very sports bar'ish. It was nice though but I like the dirty mom and pop places much better.
Even though Mother's Day's over...
What to order...
One of the co-workers got the Potato Skins for everyone. I liked the bacon! These are the same as TGIF's Loaded Potato Skins. There were little ramekins of sour cream and/or ranch dressing.
Here's a few of their lunch specials...I should also mention that I didn't take pics of everyone else's food. Most of them got soup and salad and that is pretty boring to look at. Plus, we were seated at a booth and I was in a corner and didn't want to get up to take a pic of their lunch. The stuff they have to put up with me...ha ha.
So you only get to see what I ordered, which was the Grilled Shrimp Tacos
The shrimp were nice and plump. Very juicy. The ramekin had chipotle mayonnaise which was also pretty taste. The chips were average. I mean, they were different colors, but chips are chips. Well, they were better than the shitty burnt chips from Achiote earlier this month. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again...it wasn't that it was bad here, but more like, I don't like most of the stuff on their menu. Boring pub type food. So...here's hoping for a more interesting post in the near future.
