Ang Sarap Sarap! Adubung Manuk!
You go Travis Craft!!!!!
This guy rocks! I like how he throws in some Taglish, "Welcome sa kusina ko", "golden brown", "fifteen minutes" and "mag-absorb"!
The cool thing is that this guy can speak fairly clear Tagalog, although with an American accent! He's spoken more Tagalog than I've done in my entire life! Good for him!
I saw this post on I Can Do That's blog and found it amusing. I wanted to post it here as well to share the joys of making "Adubung Manuk" (should be "Adobong Manok", which is Chicken Adobo).
I actually had to do something like this for Tagalog class 13 years ago. I had just started my Counseling job and wanted to take Tagalog for hurtle credit (hey, it was 5 units!). We had to show our spoken mastery (ha ha) of the language, so I chose the "make a cooking demonstration" video. I ended up videotaping myself at my mom's house. She supplied the ingredients and even grated that coconut herself on that low wooden stool thing and practically wrote the script for me! I got my "A"! Thanks Mom!

LOL! OMG!!! That is a great video! I have to show it to my mom!
That guy speaks more Tagalog than I do! I can understand Tagalog, but my speaking is horrible. I have too much of a North American accent (much like his, but he's more fluent)!
When I was in the Philippines, everyone laughed at me and said, "PLEASE, just speak English!!" LOL! I went to a store to look for a fly swatter because the flies were driving me crazy. I knew that if I said 'lang-ow' they'd know I meant "fly" and I thought 'patay' meant to kill.
Anyway, we had about half a dozen store clerks scratching their heads, thinking my cousin and I were insane. We kept doing the actions as if we were swatting flies and we kept saying "patay ang langow! Patay ang langow!"
We got back to my Lola's house with no fly swatter and we were very frustrated that no one understood what we were talking about. When we told my aunts and my mom, they all laughed at us and said that the people at the store must have thought we were insane. Apparently, as we were swatting imaginary flies with our hands, we were saying "The fly is dead! The fly is dead!"
OMG...LOL! I bought a Tagalog/English dictionary after that.
yeah, he speaks way more tagalog than me as well.
i would have made the same mistake about the "fly swatter". funny story!
