Correction...

Re: the YouTube video of a "white guy" making chicken adobo that's been making it's rounds, Travis Kraft (with a "K", I spelled it wrong with a "C") is actually half Filipino (his mom's Pinay).

Correction - His adoptive mother is Filipina and from Bataan. I guess I skimmed an article on his website too quickly. He's a white guy after all.

He's from the Midwest and an actor (small time though) and model (Jockey, Rexona deodorant?) as well as a Superman lookalike. He's acted in a few roles in the Philippines, where they seem to dig the mestizos (colonial mentality for sure!). More so since he can actually speak Tagalog. Props to the guy for learning the language. A lot of us American born can't even speak it to save our life, unless you count naughty body parts and curse words. Ha ha. Anyways, just thought I'd throw this in here. Here's his webpage and a link to his MySpace.

By the way, I've never made adobo the way he makes it. No whole black peppercorns? Cut up garlic in small pieces, not whole and smashed? Five whole bay leaves? That's quite a bit there. Although I make my adobo with onions, most people don't put onions in theirs. Plus, my mother taught me never to add more salt since the "toyo" (soy sauce) is already salty. Well, at least the dude can cook and speak the language!
