The new Pho Hung Cali 2

After months of seeing the "Coming Soon" sign...

I had kind of forgotten about this place to be honest...

This is the second location of Pho Hung Cali (the first location is in south Chula Vista and we have been there many times).  PHC2 opened back in May but I hadn't checked up on its status since I hadn't driven by that area in the past few months.

We were here after grocery shopping yesterday. What made our visit even nicer was meeting up with Cathy and her Mister. They had errands to run in our neck of the woods so it was a good as a time as any to meet at this fairly new Vietnamese spot.

If you look up, you can see glowing lights in jewel tones. It was like a night club here (just kidding).

Their menu and pricing is the same as the other place. It's a lot smaller here but newer. The workers are really nice.

Our shared fried egg rolls. The lettuce and mint plate was sparse though.

These were okay.

My beef spring roll which we shared. Freshly made. Soft and pliable wrappers. Warm beef inside. These were so good with the accompanying rich peanut sauce.

Cathy's rendition had pork which was equally delicious...

Her Mister had the Vietnamese beef stew with French bread.  I thought the presentation in a boat was nice.  He was kind enough to piece apart a few small pieces of bread and stew for us to taste.  The stew was really nice and the meat so tender.

Everyone enjoyed what Cathy ordered...the beef salad. It had shaved celery, pickled carrots and daikon, and was garnished with fresh lime slices, chopped cilantro, peanuts, and a generous amount of lime juice which "cooks" the meat".

Very refreshing. Great choice Cathy.

Beef stew...with dipped bread. He even gave us a fatty piece, which we liked.

TC enjoyed our leftovers as well.

There is no website but here ar the reviews from you know where

We'll have to make our way out here more often.  It wasn't as crowded as the other location and had a more relaxed vibe.

This was a really good 'breakfast' and it was fun to meet up at the 'Club'-what fancy decor! There was a year when all I ever tried was the beef salad at every Vietnamese place; this one is definitely in the top three. The beef stew was a wonderful version, too.

Ha ha, that's right, those neon flashing lights. Very night club'ish. That beef salad you chose was right on! Will have to make a revisit during my winter break. It was nice spending time and sharing a good meal with you and the Mister.
