at four different Trader Joe's...
I finally came across a box of this seasonal item at Trader Joe's, which are its Apple Cider donuts. One of my friend's husband works at our local Trader Joe's. He tipped her off that a new shipment had arrived. Apparently the company that made them didn't make enough and were backlogged with orders. Once I got her text, I hauled ass after work to give these a go.
I believe the box was $3.99. The donuts aren't made in house, obviously. These were very cakey and dense but also soft enough to bite into without resistance (ha ha). I wasn't sure if I'd like it since it had cinnamon on it, but the spice wasn't overpowering.

Trunk of my car shot. The lighting is pretty good in our garage.

The donuts were pretty good. After two days, they weren't as soft so if you happen to buy a box, know that they should be consumed within that time frame. Also, I didn't heat up my donut because I don't like warm donuts and thought they were fine out of the box. They're not earth shattering, but I was hell bent on finding these. Keep in mind that these donuts are 320 calories each too. Yikes.
Please check out Kirbie's October Trader Joe's round up post here which includes these donuts.
Looking forward to going to Julian next month so I can try a real cider donut at the Julian Pie Company Haven't had one in awhile. They have several variations (crumb, plain, chocolate, caramel) and my mouth is watering just thinking about it, heh.

I saw these donuts at my local TJ but think twice about them. Then I went looking for them yesterday after your post and yeah - sold out. Figures.
Aww, bummer Faye. The cider donuts in Julian are better so I am looking forward to trying those.
