Which brings me to this compilation post featuring holiday drinks...
The drink above was from Imperial Grounds Coffee. I was kind of disappointed that the Pink Peppermint White Mocha wasn't really pink as shown on their IG. Reality bites.
The drink itself was okay. Kind of thin tasting, but looks cute. We tried this the day after Thanksgiving. They were going to do a new drink for the holiday season, the Snowbird which utilizes a white bird Peep. Weeks later, it ended up being the Snowman peep (you can see what he looks like for our ghetto version here).
When I took my dad to his appointment in Hillcrest earlier this month, I stopped by Kona, which by the way, COUPON FAIL!!! They said they did not honor the coupon from the book, dammit. but pride prevented me from walking out so I got the Maplenut Latte.

First of all, paper cup. Second, Scalding hot like third degree burn hot. Third, the use of flavored syrup. I knew what I was getting into when I went here. Having to hold this drink while trying to take photos was a pain as well. It tasted okay but would have been better iced, had I thought of getting it that way.
TC and Bert's drinks from Starbucks at the San Ysidro Outlet - Green tea frapp (not a holiday drink I know) plus Bert's current obsession, the peppermint mocha. The cup apparently caused controversy for some uptights folks because they felt that the hand holding was "gay"? Really? How can you even tell the gender of the arms? OMG people.

Bert liked it well enough but it doesn't even come one tenth close to his favorite (shown at the end).
During our calendar collecting frenzy earlier this month, I used a giftcard for me and Astroboi. The drink in front is mine - the Creme Brulee iced with almond milk and no whip.

It was actually quite nice. I liked the flavor. Not overly sweet; it would have been even more so had they added whipped cream.
I was rencently at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in San Ysidro...

Chocolate pecan? Why not!

Refreshing iced...

I like their pebbly ice. This was a great flavor combination. Would get again, but won't because there's no way I'm going back down here during the holidays. There used to be a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Eastlake but it closed several years ago. Bummer.
On a recent weekend...

Bert and I tried their peppermint mocha and their white peppermint version (not shown).

The drink looked better with a clear cup as depicted on their IG but that was the iced version. This was the hot version, therefore paper. I had to remind the barista to add the whip and crushed peppermint candies. I felt kind of gypped when I initially opened the lid and it looked like a normal drink. What's the point right. But they're good people here and it was fixed.
Sheldon's Service Station was visited the same weekend of the Holiday in the Village event. Looks like this mural is new.

Andes Mocha - This was super super sweet. Like way too sweet.

I'm guessing they melted Andes mints in this.
That same morning, as in minutes later, we walked a few minutes down the street to Public Square Coffee House. They had their version of the Peppermint mocha but with handmade marshmallows, which they torched.

Looks pretty but you will pay extra for those damn marshmallows.
What I've been waiting for all year at Dark Horse in Golden Hill.

Yes...

The larger drink was Bert's. You already know what it is, heh. Mine was the more picturesque one, the Minty Mocha cortado. Perfect in size and in flavor. The mint candies on the rim are overkill I know, but it sure looks great.
Cafe Moto was one of our more recent ventures. Peppermint mocha on the left plus regular macchiato (mine) on the right.

They do drinks right here.
Bert's last peppermint mocha of the year...

Once again, the best was saved for last. This one's from Copa Vida in Sorrento Valley. The drink was much prettier than last year's version, due to the inclusion of red sugar sprinkles. With all of these holiday drinks, Bert's favorite was and still is the peppermint mocha from Copa Vida. Hands down. For me, it's Dark Horse's Minty mocha cortado. Still.

I don't know how Bert does it, but I can only handle so much peppermint flavored anything, ha ha. New latte variations seen this year at other coffee shops (but not tried), gingerbread as well as egg nog. There was also a peppermint matcha drink offered at Brew Coffee Spot in La Mesa, but we didn't make our way out there, so maybe next year!

Starbucks had a 'Christmas Tree' for a week (they seem to do all of their 'specials' (like the Unicorn frappe and currently the Black Tie) for one week it seems. It was a mint mocha base topped with matcha whipped cream and a 'garland' of caramel with crushed peppermint 'ornaments'. It was good...probably because the mint was cut with some coffee as well as the chocolate. Very nice roundup.
Thank you Cathy. I don't want to taste another mint drink until....next year, haha. I saw that Christmass tree drink at Starbucks but it looked diabetes inducing. Despite how pretty it looked, I am not a whipped cream fan.
