James Coffee, Banker's Hill

About a week ago, Bert and I had another free morning...

TC was helping a friend with a film project so we went out to the new James Coffee...

located on Palm and Quince, and just steps away from the Quince Street trestle bridge, James is housed on the ground floor of a new housing complex, The Louie. Looks really cool and retro but is probably waaaaay expensive to live in, given the area and the demographics.

There was a line when we arrived plus we had the unfortunate view of this couple in front of us who didn't care that they were making out in front of everyone. Ugh.

Now does he really like the Scorpions or did he buy the shirt at a thrift store because he liked the design?

Cool cups and saucers here...

Our quiche lorraine served inexplicably with a spoon, rather than a fork.

Nice sized portion here not like the thin one we had at The Bean Counter. This was really delicious, however, eating it with a spoon sucked royally.  Maybe it's for looks or something, but a spoon is NOT effective when eating a quiche. Just saying.

Meaty.

There is hardly any seating outside which was kind of a downer as well. We managed to squeeze into an empty bench but had to endure the conversations of millenial hipsters sitting across form us,  one of whom was bitching to his friends about how much he hated kids.  Aaaad if he ever did have kids, he would dress them in black sweats everyday because he doesn't believe in gender conforming colors and oh yes, he would also date and maybe eventually marry a single mom who already had a kid so he wouldn't have to father one himself.  Yes, all of this we learned while waiting for our coffees, which took fifteen minutes (we were forwearned by the Scorpions t-shirt wearing barista). I think he was the only one working the counter that day, which slowed things way down.

Mocha and cortado. Milk subs are $1 here which makes the already pricy drinks even pricier.

The cups and saucers were specially made for James.

I have to say...the revamp of the building is an improvement. Very mod looking.

A far cry from this:

It's in the middle of everything too, but I'm sure that the renters/buyers are going to be paying $$$ to live here. Well, if you have money to burn...

I can cross off James from our list. The drinks, while good, are on the pricier side. Seating not so good here.  They need to have more staff to make things go faster as well.
