Just today I was greeted by another student, "Hello Ms. Counselor Lady"...Uhhhhh...okayyyyy... I don't think he was in my alpha otherwise he would have known my name.
The band teacher gleefully came into my office today with this toy voice changer (it was a student's - you could make your voice sound like an alien, Darth Vader or some sort of robot. It was hilarious!
I saw a toilet on a sidewalk on my way to work. Bert saw it later as well and said it was going for $40 (there was a sign by that time). I wonder if someone got it? I remember my dad once put our old toilet on the sidewalk to give away for free. I was so embarassed especially since my parents' house is by an elementary school and gets a lot of sidewalk traffic. That sucker was picked up in no time!
What I'm currently listening to:
Message in a Box: The Complete Recordings by The Police
I'm especially stuck on Discs 2 & 3. This was one of the first bands that I really liked. Zenyatta Mondatta was one of the first albums I ever owned. Regatta de Blanc is my favorite.
I originally bought this used box set for Bert back in 1999. I got it at Off the Record in Hillcrest (when it was still there - my favorite location was in the College Area, back when it was still on El Cajon Blvd.). It was a splurge back then, but well worth it...All of their albums plus their early singles (sans guitarist Andy Summers) and some Sting songs from the film "Brimstone and Treacle", live versions of various songs and so on.

Ah, Message in a box is the only perfect boxed set that I've ever come across and therefore own. Reasons I say so:
* It's complete Most boxed sets only rewrap the albums and don't include the extras, ep's, b-sides, or at least not all of them.
* It's compact Rather than just gathering CDs they put everything onto just 4 cd's, using all of the CD space front to back.
* It's chronological They put it all in order front to back by release date while still keeping albums together.
* It's what I was looking for Ok, I lied, it's not really complete. They don't include every single live recording, etc. just what was officially released. But that's all I cared about to begin with, I'm not a huge fan of live albums anyways. So it's complete according to their "released" criteria which was good enough for me.
So all in all, and this is rare, they did it "right".
thank you marc spectre!!!!!
yes, quite complete...i love the regatta de blanc stuff. am currently reading 'one train later' by andy summers, yes, the guitarist. the one who sang 'mother' and 'friends' and composed the much reviled 'behind my camel'. this man is nothing short of brilliant. his book is a total page turner - most of it recounting his days before the police. he's also pretty funny and has a sharp wit.
These box sets are cool! Screg have several added to his extensive music collection. I remember years ago when I saw one for Marvin Gaye & the Jackson 5 Greatest Hits at Music Trader; but didn't want to pay that kind of money for box sets.
