Phuong Trang & Canadian candy
Last month, we decided to go to Phuong Trang's for dinner. I just had my haircut and I was craving some bun.
Phuong Trang is located in the Convoy Plaza strip mall next to the Boxing Club and bakery.
One of our friends calls Phuong Trang the Vietnamese "Denny's".
Condiments:
The receptionist fellow with funky gelled up bangs sat us behind the screen you see as you walk into the restaurant.
We started off with fresh spring rolls:
The greenery for our fried spring rolls (lettuce, cilantro, mint) + dipping sauce, and for Bert's pho (bean sprouts, lemon, basil).

The fried spring rolls:
A crappy photo of the jackfruit shake with boba and TC's seafood fried rice.
My bun with char grilled beef (this is soo good!). What I like about bun is that it's really light (well, not with beef). The noodles are resting on a bed of shredded lettuce, carrot, cucumber and topped with the beef which is rolled around a green onion. There are also chopped peanuts for crunch and tiny fried pieces of pork fat in there. You pour the fish sauce over this and enjoy!
Bert's pho with flank:
Mmmm...peanuts!
Can you see it? There's the pork fat right in the middle!
Just had to throw this in. One of Bert's co-workers went to Vancouver, BC recently and brought us back these Canadian candies. The "Maltesers" are like Whoppers.

Wait...you guys don't have Aero bars in the States??? Actually, Aero is one of my faves. I like the way it just melts in your mouth with all of its bubbly goodness! LOL!
Canine, once again your photos have made my mouth water! Ohhhhhh those spring rolls look soooooooo good!!!
PS. If you guys want me to send you some Canadian candy, just let me know!
Hi CC - You know, I've heard that Vietnamese Denny's description from several people. Phuong Trang is pretty consistant and safe. Though I think the food lacks "soul".....
hi chrissy
no, aero bars are not sold in the states, or california at least. we bought them in vancouver a couple of years ago, the 'mint' aero bar!
hi kirk
yes, we need to try the other places you list in your blog - what is your favorite vietnamese place? dish?
Oh, god how I love fried eggrolls, fried anything.... When are you guys having a party with lumpia?
OMG......Canine and Lotus, I LOVE lumpia! That's about the only fried thing I'll eat! LOL! I love all kinds of lumpia. Now I think we need to have a lumpia party!
