SEL with Astroboi

Date with Astroboi continued:

And because we've always gone out to lunch after every Twilight Saga installment, we did so on that day. I chose Sab e Lee at the original location on Ulric. He'd never been there before and was very trusting with my choices. In fact, he was too trusting. The spice level was a 2 or 3 and it ended up fkg both of us up later that day. I somehow forgot that the spice factor here is way more than at SEL2 in Santee.

We got lucky and snagged a table during the lunch rush past noon.

The first dish to come our way was the Papaya Salad which we both liked.  Everything was firm and crunchy and slightly spicy.

If you've seen my previous Sab e Lee posts, this is usually ordered, the #48, Issan sausage...one of my favorite dishes on their menu! Tastes good with sticky rice...

We also got the Beef Nahm Tok - this was mega-hot! Liked the texture of the rice powder on the salty, sour beef.

and...Bamboo Shoot Salad which pretty much did the majority of the damage for both of us. It was also pungent because of the salted dried fish powder on it. Breath mints anyone?

Halfway into lunch, I ordered an iced coffee because even though our spice level was 2-3, it was hotter than I expected. I needed the milk in the coffee to cool things down.

Until the next movie/lunch date! Maybe I will consider watching both parts "Breaking Dawn" as long as I get to enjoy Astroboi's company and wicked sense of humor. Believe me, that 4th book will have plenty of unintentional laughs.  Bruises. Feathers. Broken Headboards. Imprinting. Shudder.
