Another year older!

It's that time of the year again...
This awesome cake courtesy of the mad skillz of Jenny from the blog, Foray into Food. The design is based on my Tokidoki L'Amore print bag (Spring 2007)...Isn't it cute? Look, the lovebird is holding a love letter!!!
I love the multicolored hearts on this. The daisy design here is modified from the purse but are still super super cute! The cake had chocolate and hazelnut layers filled with whipped chocolate Nutella ganache and praline filling with chopped hazelnuts. The frosting was a praline buttercream underneath white fondant with the Tokidoki inspired design. So not only did the cake look good, but it also tasted quite sinfully delicious! I should have taken a cross section of it!
Here is the real Tokidoki L'amore bag print. Photo taken from the blog Tokidoki-blog.com. The bag style I have is the Ciao, a small bag with a fold over flap. This one is the messenger style bag.

And because I am a lazy ass, I'm recycling my birthday post from last year. Well, the videos that is...

One of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite movies. Ever.

Actually no one that I cared about forgot my birthday, but I just had to put this scene in! Who doesn't LOVE Molly Ringwald? John Hughes' teen muse...

This song was also in "Sixteen Candles" (it's in the background during the study hallscene where Molly Ringwald is answering questions to a sex test and is looking at Jake Ryan).  This cute song is by Scottish new wave band Altered Images and was remade by the Ting Tings for the kid's tv show, "Yo Gabba Gabba":

Here's one of my fave birthday songs as well by the inimitable Mancunian (that means they're from Manchester, UK) mope group, The Smiths, featuring Morrissey:

And lastly, one of my fave songs by alt rock band The Sugarcubes, featuring their quirky and elfin lead singer Bjork. This is the Icelandic version of their song, "Birthday" which came out the year I graduated high school, 1987.

My daughter gave me a beautiful painting of trees with dappled leaves that she worked on in art class. She used acrylic paint on canvas and it's really quite nice. I will need to find a spot in the house to hang it after I frame it. She also gave me a homemade booklet with pictures of us on my birthday from 2003 to the present (2003 was the first year we started using digital cameras). She also gave me an Easter egg with a "mutant"/malformed peanut m & m inside it. Nice. Something tells me that she shared twisted humor genes with someone (cough).

I'm having my side of the family over tonight for dinner. Can't wait to see my brother's new baby too. I was sick all last week and couldn't see him for fear of making the baby ill. So, yeah, Filipino party food coming up. Will post those pix later.

In the meantime, a toast to my fellow bday mates!  Here is NAMBLA poster boy, Ricky "The Ricker" Schroeder ("Silver Spoons" fame)! Forget NYPD Blue!!!! It's Silver Spoons all the way baby!!!  Where's Alfonso? Ha ha (Alfonso Ribiero, later to be known as the uptight cousin in the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air"):
and let's give it up for Tony Dow (aka "Wally" from "Leave it to Beaver")!

"Aw gee Beav! Why'dja have to wack off to pictures of Miss Landers in our bedroom again?"
as well as the 3rd President of the U.S. and infamous slave master, Thomas Jefferson,
and most important of all, Alfred M. Butts, the creator of "Scrabble"!!!!!
Sorry his photo is so small! It should be the biggest one of all!!!
