More random pix

[Last post of the year along with 5 other new posts]

A few more random pix to end the year...

The day after Chrismas sales brought us to Cost Plus in Grossmont (where there is the mighty triufecta of stores - Target, Pier 1 and Cost Plus). This is what TC spent some of her Christmas gift money with from Cost Plus. Uhhhh....Nice.
These Lychee fruit gels were a hit with the kids at our holiday parties. They were banned for a while because some kid in a third world country choked on them. Or was it in the U.S.? But hey! Now the killer jelly fruit thing are back with a vengeance! Just remember to chew these well kiddos! They're like non alcoholic fruity jello shooters with bits of fruit!
Sand Sculpture at Grossmont Center...I swear, that mall is stuck in a time warp from the 1950's...
OMFG! The most Holiest Grail of them all! Seen at the Otay Ranch Town Center Macy's parking lot, A Pink Pimpmobile, courtesy of Mary Kay Cosmetics - the cars are awarded to top sellers or women who recruit enough sellers to work for them and peddle this stuff. The car was from South Carolina.
Happy Early New Year's!!!

OMG! I LOOOOOVE lychee fruit gels!! When I was teaching in Japan, my students were big on fruit gels! Lychee was my fave. Grape came in a close second.

I laughed when I read in your post that they were banned because someone choked. I know it's not funny that someone choked, but it's funny that they were banned. Heck, a kid can choke on practically anything. We can't keep banning everything people choke on. It's almost like suing a restaurant chain because some dumbass put the coffee cup between her legs while driving and burned herself. Oh, wait. That did happen! What is this world coming to?

Don't get me wrong. Kids' toys, baby cribs, car seats being recalled for safety reasons are one thing. Banning fruit gels though? That's just silly.

I almost choked on popcorn while reading your post because I was laughing so hard. Should I sue Orville Redenbacher? I didn't think so.

hi c- actually the person that choked also died. i'm so bad making light of that. but seriously people, killer fruit jellies? i think the victim was a toddler too. what kind of stupid parents are giving their little kids things like this to eat? seriously though, how terrible that someone died from this but i still think it's the parents' fault not the kid's.

btw, i think you should sue the ass off of good ole dead Orville Redenbacher! damn him!

those lychee fruit jels are pretty fun to eat too. they are like jello shooters. they should be made with vodka though. or gin. or sake. or shoju.

the other flavors i liked also included your fave, grape, as well as mango and peach.

japan makes the best snakcs!

Mmmmkay, I feel like shit for that last comment now! *sigh* Not making light of the fact that a child died, but I still don't think it's the fruit gel company's fault. What parent gives their toddler something like that? If you MUST give your young child something hazardous like that, then watch them and make sure they don't choke.

I don't know if you heard of that whole Bumbo chair lawsuit? Probably not and you probably don't really need to know or care since TC is older now. Anyway, the company received many complaints stating that the chairs were dangerous and babies were getting injured by falling out of it.

Well, we received one of those Bumbo chairs for Little One as a gift and we found the chair to be amazing. Of course, we would never leave her unattended while in it. I think the thing is that some people may have used it as a "babysitter" and left their kids in it so they could go about doing other things. Obviously, the need for supervision is necessary. You don't just leave your kid in there.

Okay, I'm done with my rant now. Do I sound like a major beeeeeeeotch? LOL!

P.S. I agree with you, btw. Oh, and Japan DOES make the most amazing snacks! That's one thing I miss about teaching and living in Japan! The snacks!!! LOL!
