That is one cool greenbox! I love how they paint all the utility boxes over there! It certainly makes things a little more interesting than the same generic, boring green!

its' quite nice but they are not painted in all areas of san diego. they are largely concentrated downtown, updown, north park, parts of east san diego, mid city and south san diego. i'll email you link of an interesting article about this beautification project. there are over 94,000 utility boxes in san diego!

it would be kind of boring if every utility box is painted though. it's nice to see a few painted ones pop up here and there - kind of like finding a hidden surprise.

some have really cool designs and there are others where you think, "what the..." or "my preschool can paint better than that!". but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Soooo true! It is nice that every now and then you come across a painted one! I love those kinds of surprises you get when you're not expecting it.

On the Island, on Lakeshore Road we have some huge painted rocks. It's kind of neat to see that someone took the time to do something creative with the rocks. They're really neat. There's also this tree that is known as the "Shoe Tree". We tell all the kids that shoes are grown on this tree. There are hundreds of pairs of shoes tacked onto the tree. Why? I have no idea! But it gives people something to ponder! LOL! The kids think it's neat (okay, some kids think it's bizarre)!
