Legoland

This was taken a few weeks ago (Monday 3/26). I took the day off and went to Legoland with TC, my sis and her boys and my brother's boys. Our dad bought the tix for cheap at the base. It was overcast and cool that day, but the sun came out later when we left (see photo below).
Star Wars geek that I am, I had to take a photo of Darth Vader. Not pictured is R2-D2 who would have been on the bottom right corner.
We took a cheesy boat ride (no lines!). The Taj Majal:
Mount Rushmore with George getting his ears cleaned. That q-tip was actually moving back and forth!
Some pretty flowers by the miniature golf course:
This is still at the miniature golf course; this skunk actually sprayed you with water if activated the sensor. My nephew kept running back and forth to set it off. It's not spraying here.
I wish I knew what this flower was:
A miniature version of Bourbon Street:
The NYC skyline:
They were still working on the Vegas miniatures. My sis went later that week (you can visit the park for $1 more if you go within the same week) with the kids and the Vegas exhibit was finished.
One of the workers trying to finish up the Vegas exhibit:
I'm not a theme park fan. I hate crowds and the crappy overpriced food. But I went since it was on my dad! Plus I got to be with my siblings and TC got to enjoy herself with her cousins (all boys). I waited out most of the rides because one or more of the nephews didn't want to go on the fast rides which was no problem. Most of the time, for our entertainment, we use those coupons and go to museums or to the library or park with TC. We've done that since she was a baby.
Usually Bert will take her out so she can ride her scooter or bike. Anything to get out and have fresh air. Going to Legoland was a big treat for her because we normally wouldn't have gone. She keeps wanting to go to Disneyland. Perhaps one of these days, but I would have to suppress my intense hatred of all things "Princess" and my dislike of Disney in general.

You know it's funny, ever since I was a child, I have loved miniatures. Pretty much miniature anything works for me. Looking at the photos, I think I would really like Legoland. To bad I don't have any kids to use as an excuse to go. Anyone know were I can rent an ankle biter?

i really enjoyed the miniatures. they had a lot of cool replicas there - very detailed.

i remember that there was some sort of mini scandal a few years back because some lego engineers did a nasty scene (but it was hidden) in one of the buildings. i think it was a couple getting it on somewhere. not sure if it was here or in the other lego-land. kind of like how the disney folks got their kicks making a penis-spired castle in "The Little Mermaid" or how they made Jessica rabbit naked for a split second in "Who framed Roger Rabbit"

Jessica was hot! She made me want to turn into a toon. Playboy actually did a nude spread on her after the movie came out. Being the pac rat that I am, I think I still have the issue boxed up somewhere in my giant storage unit.

i have a male friend that thought Ariel was hot. i mean, she was a cartoon, but she had breasteses! i still think that she shouldn't have given up her life to be with that wimpy eric.

I remember LEGOS (or is it LEGO'S).

The traditional brick-type ones were okay. But what I really liked were the expert sets. The ones where you could build a car that actual had rolling wheels and pistons that moved. Now that was sh*t!!

But I also remember having a hell of a time pulling those pieces (especially the thin and small ones) apart.

yes, those thin pieces are a bitch!

thor and lotus have those kind and those are the ones that tc and mulysa's kids play with during the parties.

i bought bert a mini-legos millenium falcon, which he put together. then, one of the nephews took it apart. the instructions were lost or misplaced, so the pieces are just lying unassembled.

the thing with legos is that you have to buy boxes and boxes of pieces to make anything substantial.

when i went to legoland, i remember eyeing the dude taking a crap in a basement bathroom in the new york city diorama, some topless sunbathers lying on their back by a penthouse pool and a park scene where a perv was checking out some chick lying on the grass with a pair of binoculars.

i find myself compromising a lot of my own aesthetic impluses for the kids, these days. but that's why i'm the adult, i can take the hit, i guess.
