Fun with figures, burgers & Treet

Chewie, HanSolo (the Bespin version) and R2-D2 duke it out on our fireplace mantel.

I think I have Chewie holding his crossbow the wrong way!!!

This past Friday, I had the pleasure of having lunch with HotFudge . She started work this week but had Friday off. I still have one more week of glorious vacation. We went to Vagabond where we both ordered burgers. Our appetizer was the calamari that I had last week. I hope Ronin enjoyed those leftovers. For our entrees, HotFudge had smoked salmon served with alfalfa sprouts, avocado, tomato, cucumber, red onion and lettuce.

I had the Kobe beef burger on a toasted telera roll. Both sandwiches were served with thin cut "frites". Unfortunately, I ordered mine "medium" when I should have said "medium rare". That was a mistake.I don't know what I was thinking. My burger was a bit too charred on the edges with no trace of pink inside. Next time, I'll remember!
I ended up eating just the softer parts of the patty and not eating the bun. I didn't want to pick up my
food with my hands (except for the fries), so I just used my utensils. What the hell right!

Anyways, while we were having lunch, this guy comes up to us and asks us if we're enjoying our lunch. We say "yes". Then he tells us that he's doing a photo shoot for San Diego Home & Garden and asks (nicely) if I could please move my pink "Hello Kitty" bag because it's in the background of the shot? I had it draped on my chair. It's actually TC's and I brought it along because I had frozen waters I didn't want to leave in the car. I obliged and put the "offending" bag on the floor. I guess they wanted to make sure that Vagabond had "upscale" clientele!!! Sorry, I don't have Coach, Louis Vuitton or Prada fkr!!! So I guess my back will be in an upcoming issue of SD Home & Garden sans Hello Kitty bag.

After lunch, we went our separate ways. I decided to go down to National City to check out Tatak Pilipino because they are going out of business, so everything is on sale! Time to stock up on Barrel Men! Schwingggg! But seriously, they will close in September and the main store will just be in Los Angeles. I also went to Big Lots (formerly "Pic 'n Save). Lo and behold, Ronin's favorite lunchmeat was there...the archnemesis of Spam, Treet!

Wow, it's only .99 too! HotFudge was just telling me that she was happy that Wal-Greens by their house had Treet and now they didn't have to travel far to find it. Well, if you're ever in National City, you know where to get your Treet fix!

I just like the texture and taste of TREET over SPAM. I was crushed when Vons stopped carrying it. But, yes, the Walgreens close to home apparantly carries TREET. In fact, I took advantage of a coupon HotFudge gave to me; I bought 4 cans of the stuff last week.

TREET RULES!!!

TREET, I SAY... TREET!!!

He, shouldn't you be WORKING? : )

It's been a long time since I had Treet, so I may try a can and taste for myself...But a SPAM fan I shall always be.

curious...is it .99 at Wal-Greens?

Screg, you may also want to try LUNCHEON MEAT since you enjoy TREET & SPAM; it's the same concept. My mom use to fry Luncheon Meat for breakfast and serve it with grits and eggs for my brother and I growing up. You can find Luncheon Meat at Seafood City.

Canine, Tatak is going out of business! I'm very disappointed since I like and have bought things from them.

Tatak and Manila Trades were the only Filipino heritage/home stores in San Diego and Manila Trades folded sometime ago. BUMMER!

Well, Tatak has some good ass sales! Books are 30% off. Clothing is 50%...Maybe Ronin can get a Barong Tagalog there. Half off!!! Same with those really nice Christmas parols made out of capiz. Half off of $100+ bucks.

I did buy 2 barrelmen, but alas, they were not half off. Still, $3.50 for a bit of native SCHWINGGG is still pretty good. Uh oh, I just gave away a future b-day gift/x-mas present.

I have been trying to get Screg to buy a Barong for years. Maybe now would be the perfect time since he could get it for half off.

Okay, how many of you guys (in the group) don’t own a Barong besides Screg? I know Bert and Kilatzin own a Barong. How about you two Thane & Shogun?

it WOULD be the perfect time. those barongs are expensive as it is and half off would be great. save some bucks there!
