This is my first post under the new blog name (thanx Lotus for coming up with this! : D)
i wonder if there's any way to work in 'Ferris Bueller' in the title somewhere!
It was a biyatch typing in the new links, then redoing them because i did it wrong! I'm going to post a picture too...but need to figure that out as well because when i tried it, my "URL" had illegal characters. WHATEVER!!!
Anyways, what a fookin' busy week it's been. This week promises more of the same. At least until TC's dance recital is done (after 2 weeks).
Still haven't watched 'Brokeback Mountain'. My sis lent her me DVD. My dad GAVE me his. He bought it (knowing it had gay themes), but my mom didn't know. She lasted less than halfway through the film. I think the sex scene is what got her. In any case, I will be watching it alone since Bert doesn't watch flicks such as these, namely men humping other men or anything to do with gayness, unless of course it's hot lesbians. I also borrowed 'Crash' from a co-worker. haven't had a chance to see that yet either. but yet, i have time to type in this damn thing...
Bert has a funny bidet story to tell you. So I'll leave it up to him to describe it in his blog...
Restaurants I'd like to try:
Puerto la Boca - Argentinian/Little Italy
JSix - fusion/downtown
Terra - New American/Hillcrest
Khyber Pass - Afghan/Hillcrest
Sushi Ota - Japanese/PB
Andre's - Cuban/Morena Blvd Area
Island Spice - Jamaican/downtown on Market St.
Sadaf - Persian/Gaslamp
Bambou Grille - Asian fusion/Hillcrest
Most fun birthday present I received a week and a half ago:
Roller skates from Bert (I have yet to use them outside, but I will since TC now has a pair too).
And yes, they are roller skates, NOT blades. They are actually sneaker roller skates because I didn't like the white boot ice skater look.
Am currently listening to:
sounds of the 70's
Electric Light Orchestra ("It's a Living Thing)? How about the O'Jays ("Backstabbers")? Michael Martin Murphy ("Wildfire"), or Yvonne Elliman (If I Can't Have You?)?

I like the new look...
HotFudge has seen Brokeback Mountain. I haven't seen it (yet?)... and have absolutely no urge to see it at the moment. It may take years... decades...
Kind of like American Beauty. We knew it had won awards and such... and we had an idea of the basic story, but it just didn't grab me at the time. We actually saw American Beauty just last year...
I need to figure out how to change some of the colors, fonts, etc...that HTML shit is too complicated for me. superman help me! i'm not kidding!
you know, you're the 4rd guy who refuses to watch it. that's cool. everyone has their own comfort zone. bert is one who won't watch this flick, my friend's husband is another. bert's chiropractor rented it (not knowing its gay themes) on the basis of Ang Lee's name (director) and Oscar awards, etc...He too watched perhaps a half hour or less then walked out. His wife watched the rest. Bert's other co-worker rented it for the same reason (Ang Lee, must be good right?). His wife is a totally conservative Christian and refused to watch any more of what they'd already viewed. He also stopped watching the movie, but, afterwards told bert, 'Hey, I PAID for this movie! I feel I should watch it to get my money's worth!' Don't know if he did. Funny...cheap Asian!
My favorite line in 'American Beauty' is when Kevin Spacey is sitting on the couch while his wife is bitching about his muscle car.....
Wife: Uh, who's car is that out front?
Spacey: Mine. 1970 Pontiac Firebird. The car I've always wanted and now I have it. I rule!
Ah Ronin. Superman just told me today that he WANTS to see Brokeback. I'll let him aloborate.
Sign us up for Khyber Pass, Sadaf, and Island Spice. ALso Bambou Grille! We tried Andres last year. It was aw-ight. It's a small, homestyle restaurant, on the verge of being a hole in the wall. Gotta try it to see. I wasn't wowed, but I'd eat there again.
Bert, did you get Pink Candles some pink and turquoise Dove shorts, a rainbow shirt, some long green banded athletic socks, and green terrycloth sweatbands?
you know, it's funny because i don't even wear pink...okay, i have a pink suede belt w/silver studs that i got way cheap on clearance @ t/banana republic outlet and a pink t-shirt w/a silk screen of john cusack's 'say anything' character (lloyd dobler) holding up the boombox (pivotal scene in that movie)...
but other than that, i don't wear pink anything else. for some reason i equate wearing pink, like baby or pastel pink to being 'weak' or girly or being a coquette, which i'm totally NOT. those of you that know me know that my wardrobe colors are pretty basic: black, sometimes brown, green, and blue (only in jeans).
lotus,
not surprised about superman..
you're on for sadaf et al...maybe bert and i will hold off on andres...sounds like pacific star (a hole in the wall latin/puerto rican place) we visited on balboa ave. last year...
re: 80s wardrobe...hey don't forget a glittery striped dolman sleeve top and a comb in the back pocket of your chemin de fers, with a stretchy gold snake belt...or better yet a comb in the side pocket of your painter pants.
dolman sleeves, isn't that another name for batwings? the goat?
lotus,
yes, "batwing" sleeves.
i had a favorite dolman sleeve top. purple and white striped... wore those with my 701's back then
Hey what do you mean by NOT SURPRISED by my newfound change-of-heart about Brokeback? And it is new . . .
read it in my latest blog.
so screg, what did you think of american beauty?
and canine, try webmonkey.com for help. how about bert? he should know some of this stuff.
gotta hand it to that ang lee dude, he really is an eclectic/diverse director when it comes to subject matter.
