Hello! I'm blogging from a hotel in the Pasadena area. Since I have a four day weekend, Bert, TC and I took a little road trip. Thanks to Universal Studios' "School Employee Salute", I was able to get free admission for me and 50% on up to three people. Basically, it was a three for the price of one for us. I can't believe how fkg expensive it is to get into a theme park - it's $69 per person!!!! Yikes! The last time we were here, TC was not quite three. Even then we used two for one coupon and since TC was under three, she was free. I'm not a big theme park person, but since it was such a good deal this time, we figured we'd take advantage of it.
On another note, I'm so glad we live in San Diego where we don't experience the hell that is known as LA traffic! We were stuck in traffic after leaving Universal. What was supposed to be a mere 20 minute trip to a diner was not to be. We were originally going to The Oinkster, a Filipino American owned eatery in Eagle Rock. However, we were stuck in traffic that was moving at the pace of geologic time. Instead of doing Oinkster (we wanted to try their famous "ube" shake!), we decided to forgo it and went straight to the hotel. It took us one and a half hours to get from Universal Studios to Pasadena! How shitty is that!?
Upcomings posts will include:
Universal Studios Hollywood (lots of new attractions we hadn't seen since the last time) and
Dinner at Yoma Myanmar (Burmese) Restaurant in Monterey Park - Dinner there, by the way, was fantastic and the owner was super nice!
Tomorrow, we'll be watching "Percy Jackson - The Lightning Thief" (from the best selling series, "Percy Jackson and The Olympians" by Rick Riordan). I am frantically trying to finish the book (just 80 more pages to go!) tonight before we watch it tomorrow. This series is TC's favorite, surpassing even the hallowed Harry Potter series.
We have a long day planned...after the movie, we're having lunch in Pasadena, checking a few other sights, having a snack at a local bakery, and dinner planned at an Indonesian place.
No pictures for now. I started a flckr but need to learn how to navigate it and transfer my photos to my blog....
Must go and finish that damn book! And watch the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver Winter Olympics!!!
OMFG - I just checked the Robsessed website and saw that the latest Vogue and Details issues with RPATTZ are out!!!! The Details mag has a lot of artfully posed nekkid chicks and uh...Rob looks quite hot! The Vogue issue features him with Emilie de Ravin at the LA MoCA - on full on publicity mode for their upcoming romantic (yet tragic film), "Remember Me".

That's unfortunate about L.A.! I didn't know that The Oinkster was Filipino-owned but it makes sense since Eagle Rock has a huge Filipino population.
Hi Darlene - I wasn't aware that Eagle Rock had a large Filipino population until I looked up Filipino restaurants in the LA area randomly on Yelp. A lot were in Eagle Rock. On Burnt Lumpia's blog as well as Wandering Chopsticks, they make note of the FA ownership of The Oinkster.
