We were passing by the area and Bert realized he had forgotten to bring his jacket...
So we stopped by the local Target in Seal Beach where he got a hoodie and also ended up getting swim trunks. Man this was so long ago. Seal Beach is on the westernmost corner of Orange County. It is south of Long Beach and San Pedro. South of Seal Beach is Huntington Beach. While driving to get here, we passed by the Naval Weapons Station and noticed rows and rows of buildings with grass growing on the sides and top. I figured they were bunkers of some sort. Turns out they were and they hold ammunition. I couldn't get any clear photos so none are shown in this post.
Seal Beach also had a pier that we were curious to see. The Seal Beach pier is the second longest wooden pier in California; the longest is in Oceanside. The pier was a Works Public Administration (WPA) project and build in 1935. It was rebuilt in 1938 because of damage from previous storms.
Checking out the pier was a good opportunity for us to get out of the car and walk off some of those calories and let the caffeine burn itself out (for us, not TC).

This seal sculpture is at the base of the pier along with a few folks busking for money by playing guitar and singing.

Unbeknownst to us at the time, the pier was undergoing structural improvements and they recently reopened the end of the pier at the end of May 2019

They have a wide and very clean beach. It wasn't crowded this time of year so all beachgoers have prime sports.

The weren't too many people fishing from what I remember, not like at IB or OB piers. It was a nice quiet day so far. There isn't a restaurant at the end of the pier, like some others in California. In IB, it is the Tin Fish. At Huntington Beach, there is a Ruby's Diner. From what I've read, the city is trying to figure if they will have a tenant there or not.

We would end up killing time at Marshalls or Ross before heading to downtown Santa Ana. The bottom floor of our house was recently redone and I was still in "decorating mode". Bert's brothers would be joining us for dinner later. But first, we would do the Happy at our dinner destination...
