when we came upon it, the place looked familiar...
That's because we had visited Bad Coffee in 2017 which is right next door to Bonchon in Costa Mesa. The interior is similar to the one in San Diego with customized art for each location. This is a casual eater. You order from the menu and they will bring your food out to you. It was pretty empty since they had barely opened at 11 am. By the time we left, the lunch rush was starting to pick up.
The Sweet Crunch was a new menu item that we wanted to try.
One order of sweet crunch on the plate with rice. On the other plate with radish was soy garlic boneless wings (TC's choice). The pieces were pretty small and we were kind of bummed but had been duly "warned" by our nice young server. No worries since we were planning to snack later.
The flavor of the boneless wings was good but I would prefer the bones since it seems more meaty and also because wings with bones seem more fun to eat.
The sweet crunch wasn't overly sweet.
In retrospect, maybe we should have gotten a bigger order but we were trying to pace ourselves.
