I remember when my parents hit the half century mark...
and I thought they were so damn old. And now I can't believe the time has come for me to turn the big 5-0. Age is just a number right?
We spent the night at Bert's brother's pad in Tustin. It was nice of him to let us spend the night . Of course, that same morning we had to make a stop at Cream Pan...

and a coffee stop at a minimalist coffee shop in downtown Santa Ana (Bert's drink pictured below):

We saw lots of street art in DTSA...

before we headed to DTLA, specifically at the Grand Central Market where this spot was our first lunch...

Coffee #2 was enjoyed at a new'ish shop hidden from the street...where it is situated in an luxury apartment complex's courtyard...

More street art in DTLA...

Lunch #2 was in North Hollywood. Peep the BARREL MAN on their counter, ha ha...

I can't resist posting this photo of their ube fries. We were expecting them to be cut like a normal French fry. This shape was unexpected but still fun to eat!

We checked into our hotel in Burbank after this meal and relaxed before heading out to LA's Chinatown...In the Far East Plaza was our dinner destination to celebrate my birthday...

We had a mix of appetizers, a soup and a few entrees...those posts to follow.
For now, check out their grilled skrimps with heads on the side. Nice and crunchy...

Of the variety of modern Filipino spots we visited that weekend (there was one more on Sunday...that post is also forthcoming), I'd have to say that this ranked among the top. We'll have to do a return visit in the summer...

A belated Happy Birthday CC! Welcome to the "we now qualify for AARP" club! ;o) Age is just a number......so far....
Thank you Kirk! They actually sent me something in the mail, which promptly went into the trash, ha ha!
Happy belated bday! I think of dtsa meaning San Antonio! Santa Ana is so small ya know! Those fries look super interesting in that shape! 😁
Thank you Lyn! The fries were pretty good but I think that the classic french fry shape is more fun to eat.
