San Clemente - The pier and Beach Ice Cream

Before heading home, we stopped by the seaside town of San Clemente...

which TC reminded me was the home of skater Ryan Sheckler (he played a hockey player in the abominable movie "The Tooth Fairy" which also starred The Rock; why did I even waste my time watching that....ha ha)...

Plus, they do have a really pretty pier...

We were able to find parking up the hill parallel to the ocean,  next to this hotel overlooking the Pacific.

"San Clemente Morn", the name of this painted tile mural near the pier's entrance.

There was a restaurant at the foot of the pier. Nice view!

Some of the placards showing landmarks and sealife/wild life seen near the pier (including whales!):

If you look closely, you can see the Coaster train passing through...

View at the very end of the pier:

Just hangin' out, that seagull.

The green awninged place below the condos was Beach Ice Cream. The reviews, which I read later, were kind of dismal with many saying that the guy who owns the place is a rude dick and so forth. I think he was there the day we went but he seemed ok. Not very friendly but not very warm either.

Guess whose this was?

TC still enjoys a good rainbow sherbet every now and then.  This wasn't gourmet quality but we didn't expect that here anyways. Our ice creams (Bert and I shared coffee flavor) were enjoyed at a bench near the traintracks. We had a great view of the pier from our bench...

Music Box Steps - a short flight of steps but worth a quick look
Unidad Park - Return to the Filipino American history mural - I can never get tired of this place

Pooh Bah Record Shop - vinyl lives!
Copenhagen Pastry - I wanted one of everything here!
