Mariscos el Pulpo, Barrio Logan

It was finally time for lunch...

after having gone to three separate coffee spots, ha ha, my seriously wired self needed some foodz....

Located just steps away from the Barrio Logan arch...

is Mariscos el Pulpo (it's been here for about two years already). He'd been there before and recommended it and I was curious to try it...

The giant lobster, ha ha.

There's lots of seating inside and out but we chose the outside patio. We were given chips with salsa...

Five tacos to share:

Plus fries (Astroboi's choice):

Shrimp in culichi sauce:

Octopus (it was so tender!) except the red skin rings you see? I found out, after chewing on a piece (it was thick like plastic, so poo for that) that it was a fucking dried pepper. It was hot too so I ended up picking them out as much as I could.

Grilled shrimp - smoky!

Gobernador (this was Astroboi's first time trying one) - chock full of shrimp, celery and grilled peppers:

and smoked Marlin (far right) - very flavorful and not too salty.

The tacos were grilled (some were kind of too hard) which tastes okay when fresh but once it cools down, is not fun to eat.  I ended up eating the filling (I could only manage a couple halves; the rest were taken home) instead of the shells. Astroboi liked everything we had, especially the gobernador. Now he just needs to try it from a taco truck like El Pescador.

Everything was pretty fresh. The shrimps were pretty large, plentiful and juicy.

Would my Mexican friends come here? Maybe, but they hate paying more than $2.50 max for tacos, haha.
