Beef Balls...at Sab e Lee!
Although we planned to go to the Armenian Festival first, we were too early. Not wanting to wait until the festival kicked off properly, we made the short drive up from El Cajon Blvd to the Linda Vista area...to one of our fave places, Sab e Lee. I wasn't planning to take any photos of the food because we almost get the same thing every time.
Looks like he added four more chairs. Now the place holds18! As you can see, we came at a good time! No waiting and no crowds!
Bert's iced coffee with cream:
So I whipped out my camera because we were going to be eating some dishes we hadn't tried before, like this: the Pad See Ew (sorry if that is spelled incorrectly) with Chicken. Bert was craving thick rice noodles. I liked the sauce in this dish!
And we also got an appetizer with the very appetizing name of BEEF BALLS. The meat was actually packed quite densely. The BALLS were covered with a sweet and sour sauce. I had a couple of them, but Bert liked them more (insert Homosexual joke here).
Of course, we got #48, the Northern Style sausage with rice and curry (although I can't detect any curry flavor whatsoever, no matter!) which we love.
We had our meal with sticky rice and ended our lunch with Ruammit which is the Thai version of Halo Halo. It's shaved ice with plum sauce and hidden treasures like young coconut and strips of jackfruit...
as well as coconut gel cubes...and palm nuts (not pictured).
Can you believe we actually meant to eat a light meal? We still had to go back to the Armenian Festival! Before we left, the owner Kobe gave us a handwritten business card with info on the upcoming opening of his new location, Sab e Lee 2 in Santee. For more info on that, see this recent post here by the awesome Kirk of the blog Mmm-Yoso. The 2nd restaurant opened today and that is where Kobe will be. Dammit, Santee is so far but sheeyit! We will make the drive this weekend for his food!

Beef Balls, eh???? LOL! I'm wondering, were you able to keep a straight face when typing that paragraph? ;o)
