O Brothers

[Update - O Brothers is closed and replaced with another pizza place]

Yesterday TC and I went out to lunch. We had several choices, determined by my ever popular paper friend, the money saving coupon. One choice was this Himalayan/Nepalese place in La Mesa. But the coupon was kind of shitty, only $1 off for a lunch entree. The other choice was Kafe Yen in PB (at the end of Garnet) which offers a hybrid of Thai/Malaysian/Indonesian food. The coupon was buy one entree with two drinks and get one entree free. That seemed promising. The last coupon was for a newly opened burger place in Horton Plaza, O Brothers (same coupo offer as Kafe Yen)...TC choice the burger place. I was kind of glad she did because I wanted to check a few stores at Horton Plaza for her upcoming piano recital/Xmas outfit. O Brothers is on the first floor overlooking the front part of the mall - you can see the NBC building. I don't even remember what O Brothers replaced.
This place is known for their "organic" beef burgers and fresh ingredients...
It's kind of small in here, very narrow. I had TC claim the corner bar heigh table right by a window. That way, I could also get a good view of the place whilst surreptitiously taking my photos. Ha ha. The decor is sleek and modern...with pendant lamps galore.
A advert sign right outside the window...
More of the interior...the flat screen had the SDSU vs TCU game. SDSU got their asses kicked. I was just there yesterday for a field trip too!
Since I was "saving" money on a burger ($8.50 worth), I got a side order of fries ($2.75). These were really good - they were perfectly salted with tiny bits of garlic and parsley sprinkled throughout. The dipping sauces were some sort of mayo dip and your standard ketchup.
I ordered two cheeseburgers (I'm not sure what type of cheese they used), $8.50...The burger was dressed with thinly sliced red onions, and thin squiggles of ketchup and mustard . It was also served with a side salad of organic greens with chopped tomatoes, feta cheese (I stragically brushed my offending cheese bits off) and had the dressing served on the side. The dressings were either ranch (which we got) or red wine vinegar. My daughter thought this was one of the best burgers she's had besides Burgerville in Portland and the ghetto White Castle in Chicago.
The meat was so succulent...juicy...wait am I talking about a burger here? Ha ha. That patty was huuuge!
Glad I had a coupon. Thanks to Hot Fudge, she sent me 3 magazines chock full of coupons (Community Magazine - Uptown, Downtown and another one I forgot the name of). They all expire on December 8 this year so my future posts will probably be places where I can utilize those coupons...Stay tuned.
