The UTC Food Court

[Scroll down for the most recent 5 posts]

We had a lot of leftover "Free Passes" for the UTC ice skating rink from TC's bday party this past summer. A few weeks ago, I took TC and her cousin here. Today, it was just us. We were supposed to meet one of TC's friends there but at the last minute they bowed out. No problem. We were already there and planned to make the most of that afternoon. The ice rink is located below their food court...
Here's a sampling of all the different fast food options at the food court. This place is new, Kebab Cafe. The place next to it was a Cup Cake place (I forgot the official name).
I had a coupon for Hot Dog on a Stick that TC wanted to use for her lunch...
Here's her cup for her lemonade...it's kind of small.
While I was waiting for TC's food, Bert went and got a seat on the lower level which overlooks the ice rink...Times have changed since the 70's. Now you can get Vietnamese food at the mall food court (see the Saigon noodles below) and Sizzling Eggrolls (I assume this was a Chinese joint). [correction - according to Dennis of the blog, A Radiused Corner, Sizzling Eggrolls is actually a Filipino turo-turo or point point joint place. Thanks Dennis!]
No more Burger King or Cinnabon or The Great Steak Escape of whatever the hell they had back then! They probably had an Orange Julius too!
I ended up getting my lunch here...Royal India Curry & Grill. You can also see that mall food court staple, Panda Express. Ugh.
Another view of Panda with Rubio's in the background...
More of the food court dining area...
This "Fish'n Grill" was a new place right across from Rubio's...or maybe it's just new to me since I hardly ever go here and don't know what' current or not!
Their menu:
I wonder how long this has been out?
TC's corn dogs (buy one get one free coupon).
I had two entrees with two extras...I had some sort of vegetable dish with rice pilaf and meat/peas...I also ordered one samosa. I ended up giving my roti (flat bread) to TC...She also liked my food more than her 2nd corn dog (which she ended up saving for later), so I let her enjoy what she wanted off of my plate. While I liked my food for the most part, I've had better at the sit-down Indian restaurants (not fast food'ish ones).
Here's Bert's choice - Two Burgers (.99) at Burger King...They were having some sort of promotion. Cheaper isn't necessarily always better though.
A sickly looking burger with lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles w/mayo. Not very lovely looking. There was once a time back in the 90s when he boycotted burgers for more than a year.
I kind of regretted eating the mall food...we should have gone elsewhere that day. I felt kind of queasy later on...

Hi CC, so funny I had dinner at Great Khan's this evening no joke. But anyway wanted to let you know the Sizzling Eggroll place is actually turo turo Filipino! They should've called it Sizzling Lumpia. Sounds like it's been a real long while since you last visited, haha. ;)

For some reason, after reading this post I want to watch the movie "Mall Rats". LOL!

P.S. In Canada, we call hot dogs on a stick "POGOS". I have no idea why.

hi c - MALL RATS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOVIES, EVER!!! Kevin Smith got raked through the coals for releasing that movie (considered a flop at the box office) but it made a killing thru vhs/dvd rentals! i loved the hilarious, yet unlikely dialogue and ben affleck's "fashionable male" character!

Hi CC, I guess you'll have to tell me but I don't expect a whole lot when I surrender in eating at the mall, haha.
