we had checked into our favorite motel in the area to freshen up a bit...
We'd been out and about all day, literally.
Shortly before our trip here (mind you, this was late March), I'd read online that Andytown Coffee Roasters opened up two more locations. The original is on Lawton and 43rd in the Outer Sunset. The second and third locations were BOTH on Taraval. This is the second and westernmost location.

It's next to this now closed market next to the Riptide bar (above in bluwhich ise); both establishments were gutted by a fire back in August 2015. The latest news is that The Great Highway Market space will be taken over by Outerlands (a popular spot on Judah and the place where we enjoyed breakfast as we celebrated our 20th Anniversary two years ago).

Diagonally across the ways, the former Beach 'n Boba spot was set to become the future Streamline Coffee (named after the Streamline Moderne style of architecture, an late offshoot of the Art Deco style). This cute coffee spot opened up in late April this year, of course, AFTER our visit.

Here's a nighttime shot of it from my older post. You can tell it is the same place because of the curved iron railing above the doorway. One of the hallmarks of Streamline Modern architecture are curved corners as well.

Back to Andytown...we first visited the original Andytown the Summer of 2014 and really enjoyed their drinks, especially the Snowy Plover. I definitely wanted that drink again and then some...

The space is long and narrow with a future patio/garden in the back in the works. Decor is minimal with reclaimed wood and branches. Service was nice and friendly.

Their concise menu along with a few food options:

Our drinks (just for me and Bert since TC didn't want any tea):

Macchiato with sparkling water:

Their signature drink, the Snowy Plover (espresso with tonic water, brown sugar syrup and housemade whip) and espresso con panna.

Just look at that whipped cream topping...none of this cool whip shit.

and once more with feeling...

Those layers!
I really love the Snowy Plover here...

I tried making this at home, but it just did not measure up. FYI - the coffee beans used were the "Short Strand Espresso" ($10.50 online; but $13 I believe at Noriega Produce). Short Strand is a mix of Brazilian and Ethiopian beans (the tasting notes are "smooth" and "fruity" respectively). We usually buy a bag or two whenever we go up here.

All three drinks were excellent. The macchiato was the perfect shot - strong and bold. The espresso con panna is in my top three drinks (which include the cortado and macchiato) - I love how the cool and sweet whipped cream melts into the espresso.

Now they are serving Matcha Snowy Plovers and other matcha drinks! I love that there are three Andytown locations now (the post featuring the 3rd one up the street is forthcoming). Lots of great coffee choices out here...

I just went to SF and best friend took me to Andytown as it's her favorite coffee place! She raved that they pour espresso over sparkling water and then topped with whipped cream. When I tried mine, it tasted tart - almost sour? I drink sparkling water several times a day so this taste was strange to me. So thank you for clarifying that they use tonic water. Might explain why the taste was different to me as I don't drink tonic often.
Hi Faye,
Which location of Andytown was it? I love that drink, the Snowy Plover!
I visited the one in San Francisco, CA 94122.
Ah, you went to the original location then. :) It's not too far from the other locations. It's cool that they have three now.
