but in the end, this section of Clement St. won out since many of the places I'd saved were close by...
There wasn't a set place I'd thought of to have lunch around here since I had my blinders on to the dessert spots nearby. As we walked down the street we looked up, saw that it was a Thai place and decided to stop here.
Christmas decor was still up since you know, it's only nine months away, heh. Why take it down right? In all seriousness, I've seen Christmas decor at all times of the year at various Asian eateries. Maybe they don't like taking it down or something or perhaps enjoy the added air of festivity.

My favorite condiment was the sweet red chili sauce; everything else had the potential to, uh, do some gastric harm later and I didn't want to deal with that.

We kept it simple and shared the three items...Crab fried rice, pad Thai with tofu (TC's choice of course) and curry puffs with cucumber relish.

All dishes were delicious, especially the crisp layers of the potato filled curry puffs. I really loved the crimped edges. The noodles had mushrooms and greens along with the tofu pieces. I was glad that there were some vegetables in the pad thai; sometimes the dish is plain save for the protein choice and a cilantro sprig and lime wedge. The fried ice was good; we hardly ever order fried rice but Bert was really wanting to try it that afternoon.

Apparently, there were two restaurants called King of Thai but as of three years ago, both restaurants were renamed...

I'm glad that we stopped by King's Thai #2 I wasn't even aware until I started this post that there was another King's Thai nearby (and that they both had to change their names a few years ago as well). Conveniently, there were quite a few places down the street we wanted to check out...
