chosen by my dad, we got there before they opened...
A friendly lola chatted with me while she waited for her daughter and grandchildren. When they arrived, it turn out that one of them knows nephew #2 (same high school and track team) and proving that with Filipinos, there is only one of two degrees of separation. In addition, I also knew the lady's daughter. She is one of the few (if only) Filipina American counselors in her district. Where I work, there a lot of us represented in counseling, administration, and teaching. Sadly, her school district is not very diverse in terms of Filipino American representation among certificated staff, such as counselors and administrators. She and I started our careers around the same time (early/mid 90's) and belonged to the same Filipino American educators organization and knew the same mutual people. Small world it is!

The buffet opened at 11 am and we were able to get in without a problem. Literally, within twenty minutes the place was PACKED. And it was pretty much Filipinos, ha ha. I saw a sexy lola wearing leopard EVERYTHING as in dress, coat, shoes aaaaand, matching purse. When I'm 80, I want to dress that way.

Prices were decent:

Empty now, heh. There are various food station, hot dishes, sushi, salads, desserts, teppanyaki, soups, and so forth. I only took pix from afar.

See the orange sign? This is true and sucks when more than two people are trying to get desserts from opposite side of the windows. Lame design. Also, the desserts here are cute and bite sized looking but don't taste that great.

TC's plate:

My dad got grilled vegetables and two pieces of steak to share with us and the grandkids:

Bert's first plate:

My sister's boyfriend's plate. I didn't partake of any raw fish myself.

My sister's seafood plate that she shared with her BF. I tried an oyster and didn't even swallow it. I just got squeamish. She seemed to like it though.

Crab legs (kind of thin). Bert cracked one open for me so I wouldn't get my fingers dirty. Awww.

Sister's sushi plate. The black fish eggs looked intriguing. Not pretty looking in your teefs though. Tastes just like the orange fish eggs.

My first plate - I had a little bit of everything. I liked the mini scallops baked into the larger scallop shell. I also had a battered and fried piece of sushi. Yes, a bastardization, but I liked it. Somewhere underneath all that were a few pieces of broccoli and edamame bean so I could pretend that I was eating healthy.

Plate two - seafood, seaweed salad, a rangoon and some sort of spicy julienned vegetable salad.

My third and last plate (not filled up since I was pacing myself)...

One of Bert's plates:

My sister's dessert plate (they had a chocolate fountain).

On this galaxy print wrapped Corvette, the license plate frame proclaimed, "My other ship is the Millenium Falcon".

I liked the buffet. It wasn't totally high end but wasn't shitty like VIP either. Good choice Dad!
Now on to the Easter Pez - There are a few new ones this year! They are on our media shelf as always, but for this particular post, I photographed them on my mantel in a themed manner.
The eggs - Ducky on green egg, polka dots, white flowers and yellow flowers on blue.

Chocolate rabbits with a white one in the middle.

More rabbits. The gray and white faced rabbits have the same face.

Older rabbits (early 90's):

Lambs. The newest one is the third one with the blue ribbon around it's neck. I noticed that the newer Pez characters are more "wide-eyed" and cartoon like.

Two chicks and a rubber duck:

More eggs (the lavender one with the sheep is new this year) and the same white rabbit as seen earlier.

These three Pez in the eggs are all new this year. The Pez stems are short and these designs were only made for the eggs. They do not come in the full stem size. Of course, suckers like me bit the bullet and bought them. There is now a light brown bunny and lavender (different faces) and a blue rubber duck.

I am totally looking forward to the release of the new Star Wars Pez - they will have BB8 and Han Solo!

I am totally amused by the height requirement for kid prices. and that purple car you saw outside! btw I can now say I own a single pez dispenser! this Xmas penguin was part of a white elephant gift from last year haha. :)
Right! I guess it pays to be short, ha ha!
That galaxy-skin covered 'Vette was a LITTLE over the top. It was owned by some rich Asian dude (we saw him leave after lunch). The doors didn't open out to the side, but opened up, like a wing.
Yay for the penguin pez! :)
