Cafe Terrasse Chez Catherine

Located in a prime spot along the riverfront was this little cafe serving ice cream, gelato and crepes...

Pardon the craptastic night photos...

It was time for a little dessert before calling it a night...

See the polkadotted dress on the wooden girl?

The girls here really wear those outfits!

Actually, the young ladies working here were very nice and patient. I'm sure they deal with tourists all the time and hear all sort of languages, including English.

You can see that maple taffy was a popular flavor! Don't mess with Canadians and their love of maple syrup!

I don't remember who had what flavor that evening, so I'll just make some random guesses. Chocolate chocolae chip?

The blue flavor was C's daughter's, I believe it might have been bubblegum. The pink and orange was TC's (mango and strawberry), and again, there's that double chocolate chip or was that maple something?

Bert's pistachio and C's cousin's gelato (not sure of the flavor, it seemed too "white" to be vanilla).

This may have been C's flavor - I want to say it was black cherry. There. I just did.

We had such a long day and it was nice to cap it off with something sweet.

One thing about this visit that I'll never forget was TC's splinter in her finger. Earlier that evening, TC and LO were playing at a park on the waterfront and something she touched had shrapnel from sticks. C's husband, FarmerJohn ended up playing makeshift "surgeon" by breaking out his trusty knife and extracting the wooden sliver from TC's hand. My poor kid was whimpering and tearing up while good ole FJ made the cut and scraped the splinter out. Ouch. :(

The next day we would explore old Montreal in the daytime and then head back to Ottawa later that afternoon. So much driving during that trip, there was.
