Glow mural in Manzanita Canyon & the Ocean Discovery Institute

We reparked the car so we could be closer to the pathway...

From up on the hill at the Manzanita Gathering Place, there was a steep walkway down...

but I was only wearing flip flops and didn't want to slip.

At the foot of the new Ocean Discovery Institute were groups of teens helping clear up brush and picking up trash and leaves.  Turns out a local school was doing community service along with some adult volunteer leaders.  We saw a glimpse of  this mural from afar...

And here it was...a mural in an urban canyon, painted by Gloria Muriel in collaboration with another Mexican artist, Alonso Delgadillo.  Unbeknownst to us, the wall was tagged a week or so before, according to Glow's IG.  Then, an unknown person fixed the wall by painting over the graffiti, which covered the woman's face.  Whoever it was did a great job matching up the paint colors! You can't even tell that this was even tagged.

I love her work so much...

Up the hill is the newly opened Ocean Discovery Institute. We took a peek inside and chatted with the young lady working there.  It's such a nice facility for the local community. There are classrooms for kids to learn about science, a patio with growing plants and an outside area to do experiments.  They also do guided tours.

We weren't there for long...just a quick look see and we were off again to head home.

Azalea Park neighboorhood sign (near Elidia's Bakery) which leads out to Fairmont Ave.

The mural is located in Manzanita Canyon which is next to the science center listed below:

Our weekends have been fun with morning coffee and at least one or two art sightings in local neighborhoods...
