at the awesomely named Lucky Llama Coffee House...

It was already pretty hot and I knew that I wanted a cold brew...
The coffee shop shares a building with a bicycle shop and has seating on their outside patio.

Bert ordered a Hammerhead (Americano with a shot of espresso), TC had a fruit bowl and for me, iced cold brew PLUS a macchiato proper.

Coffee beans are from Castle Coffee Roasters from Santa Barbara (Bert noticed the font; Cajun Kitchen also uses their beans).

The coffee house was pretty cool with a laid back and funky vibe. They sold not only coffee, but also jewelry and artwork from local artisans. On the walls was artwork by former Dog Town and Z-girl skater, Peggy Oki (she was inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame in 2012). I only wish I had taken photos of her beautiful artwork but it was quite crowded in there and I didn't want to get anyone else in the photos. While Bert ordered our drinks and TC's fruit bowl, I grabbed a table outside.

See those branches? That's the Wardholme Torrey Pine.

The sticker that TC bought...

Our drinks:

TC really enjoyed her fruit bowl which had sliced bananas, mixed berries with coconut and drizzled with honey. The fruits were very good quality (intense flavor, not bland and unripe). The honey was also a nice touch, but not overly sweet.

My macchiato proper - nice and smooth this was.

Bert's Hammerhead (this was pretty strong, the way he likes it):

My iced cold brew before I added cream and sugar (and later poured it into a to go cup):

We liked our drinks, TC loved that fruit bowl so much that she replicated it when we got back from vacation. It wasn't nearly as good because the honey we had tasted different, but it was close.
video of Peggy Oki's induction into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame:
So cool to see that Peggy Oki, an Asian American woman, was such a trailblazer in the skateboarding world! In the 1970's, she was the only girl who skated with a group known as the Z-Boys; she appeared in the skater documentary, "Dogtown and Z-Boys". TC and I watched it several years ago and wished that the movie showed more of her contributions. The Z-Boys were known for their low and aggressive style of skating which was markedly different from the upright skating position favored by skaters at the time.

I'd pick this place just because of the name! Looks like a nice spot to relax and have your coffee.
Haha, that was the reason I wanted to go here too..the name! But it really was a great little place with good coffee and a chill vibe.
