Drinks 'n tapas @ Romesco's revisited

My friends and I went here after Senior Awards night a few days ago...

We needed to unwind with the impending end of the school year...

and what better way than with alcohol?  Okay, I will confess that I was the sole person who did not partake in a beverage with spirits.  It's wierd for me to drink on a weekday (I barely drink as it is) so I was the fuddy duddy who just had ginger ale (not pictured since, well...ginger ale).

This was Mr. TJ's Maker's Night (made mainly with Maker's Mark; man this stuff was strong! It could peel paint!).

La Ley's Tamarind martini (this was really tart; they used fresh tamarind for this) rimmed with what we think was Lucas powder (a sweet and tart chili spiked mango powder) or maybe Tajin.

My other co-worker's drink, a Margarita (I don't remember what flavor it was) served in a regular glass (not a Margarita glass for some reason).

Mr. TJ's Costillo de res (cazuelita with beef short rib) which came with four tortillas to make tacos with.

My fancy Potato tacos with guacamole. Both of these tacos were so good but messy to eat because of the salsas and quesa fresco on it. The guacamole had some heat to it as well (La Ley liked it a lot).

La Ley's Ahi tuna tostada (which she had last year) - The portion was small but we had eaten several baskets of bread with butter (after asking twice for it).

Two of us got the Gambas al Romesco, one of my favorites because of the thin cut fries which soak up the delicious Romesco sauce. The tapa cam iwth about four large tail on shrimp.  This was quite filling as it was but none of us had eaten dinner. We had a full day at work then had to come back for awards night. We deserved a good meal!

Note to Romesco's newbies - if you go here, the waitstaff is very charming (we had an older gentleman named Gustavo)....BUT...sometimes they take FOREVER to get you simple things, like glasses of water, butter and more bread.  He wasn't on point with that.  And if you want your check, you have to ask. They don't rush you here. AT ALL.  You could be there all night if you are expecting them to give you the check.  They're a bit European in that aspect. Luckily, La Ley spoke Spanish to get things done a little faster for us.  That being said, their food is pretty damn good.

Last year's post:
May 2015 (for the same occasion!)

This time, Bert and I will come back for lunch or maybe even their Mexican breakfast! Vacation is just a little over a week away and I am just patiently biding my time 'til the last name for graduation is read.
