She was quite an interesting lady. We enjoyed chatting while on the ferry and in the car. In fact, she kept TC occupied by teaching her an intricate hand clapping rhythm. It was really cool how attentive TC was to her and how quickly she learned the pattern.
On the way back, we pssed by lots of open space, you know, fields, and farms and such as well as windmills...
There was a small delay in traffic due to the roads getting fixed...
I really liked colorful storefront of Northern Confections in the small town of Wiarton, in Ontario. You can see it on their sign - what they sell! I wished we could have stopped there! They make everything by hand there.
Down the same road was another business in Wiarton, Lloyd's Smoke Shop and Pool Hall.
"Wiarton is is best known for the Wiarton Willie Festival and Wiarton Willie, the albino groundhog who purportedly predicts the length of winter every Groundhog Day." (info from wikipedia's entry on Wiarton)
Forget Punxsutawney Phil! They have their own groundhog here!
C told me it only takes her a little over three hours from Tobermory to Toronto! Well, she must be going 80+ mph because it took us nearly four hours. Their speed limit is so damn slow here. Only the equivalent of 55 mph (80 kph)! Plus we had to drive through small one lane towns and the speed limit was even lower through the towns. I guess she is just a speed demon and we are just arthritic old ladies behind the wheel.
More on Wiarton here and here.
Up next...going to the chapel and we're gonna get....

I had no idea that "K" and TC had that much fun on the drive back to TO or that she taught TC a clapping/rhythm thingy. You know she's a professional pianist, right?
Anyway, another tidbit: Wiarton was actually Hubby's and my very first trip together as a couple when we first started dating. I know, I know...pretty lame! LOL! We went for the Outdoor Farm Show (or was it the Plowing Match?? Whatever). The motel we stayed at was actually called Wiarton Willie and we did the touristy thing by driving around and taking pics in front of the giant Wiarton Willie statue! LOL! Dorks :)
Bwahahaha! Just read the speed demon comment you made! It takes me 3.5 hrs, but it takes Hubby 3! :)
hi c - yes, i know she's a professional pianist. she's so cool!
What? How romantic, a PLOWING MATCH, ha ha.
I would have wanted to see that Wiarton Wilie statue ifI knew about it ahead of time. I'm just finding out about all these places when doing my "links" for my posts.
and yes, you guys drive superfast. we'd want to do the same thing, but since we were foreigners in canada, we didn't wnat to risk it.
